Of some interest? Lukas Walton buys into the Bulls

Featured Replies

I know Jerry always told his family to keep the Bulls and sell the Sox - but is he doing both? Will this land us Skubal in the offseason?

I will say one thing for the Waltons, they are not private equity.

Here's the Crain's article about this purchase of a minority stake in the Bulls.

“We are pleased to welcome Lukas and Samantha, who share our deep-seated belief in Chicago,” Bulls President and CEO Michael Reinsdorf said today.

Sounds familiar.

If this dude wants the team, I think he’d get the team.

I watched interviews with the Bulls two first round picks and was impressed with everything about them. Bulls are going to be an exciting team that will be fun to watch. Dunks galore. Not quite there with long range shooting yet but tough on the boards and will be amazing in transition. Check in on them then when their season begins, even if you have not been an NBA fan.

Does Reinsdorf currently have investors who have a minority stake in the Bulls franchise? If so, are the Waltons buying shares from those minority owners or is Reinsdorf selling a stake of the franchise that he owns? From the Sun-Times article is sounds like Lukas Walton is as much interested in the 1901 project as the Bulls themselves.

Correct. And JR has made it very clear he expects his family to keep the Bulls (because the NBA has a salary cap...BIG surprise eh?) and sell the Sox.

While the Sox floundered JR was buying as much property around the United Center as he could. Hold onto your property if you own anything in that area. It is only going up up up.
