Thursday at 06:31 PM1 day I know this is shitty because there is no evidence but I've learned from the Steroid Era. Wilson Contreras is 34 years old. He should be declining; however lets look at his current season. Wow! What a great season. When is the last time Wilson Contreras slugged over 500? He did it once his age 27 season in 2019! That makes sense to me. When is the last time he OPS over 900? Never has done it. Now, I hate pooping on somebody's success. However, Im a little skeptical of the drastic improvement being done at age 34.
Thursday at 07:20 PM1 day His season honestly makes no sense at age 34 and having been a catcher most of his career.
Thursday at 07:27 PM1 day He has never hit like this at any point previously in his career. It could be that the green monster is helping him (and it is, he has a 174 wRC+ at home). But he's also hitting very well away from Fenway at a 142 wRC+. His road wRC+ is higher than anything he's done in his career.
Thursday at 07:44 PM1 day Author Again, there is no proof. But if he got popped, it wouldn't surprise me.

5 hours ago5 hr The only sorta underlying metrics that are out of wack from the rest of his career are groundball/flyball ratio and pull%. He’s not hitting the ball harder or striking out less; bat speed, barrel%, etc are pretty much the same. Do steroids make pull the ball in the air better but affect nothing else? Seems like he learned something helpful. Considering the rest of the Red Sox offensive success, maybe they have a pretty good hitting coach. Why are there two conspiracy threads about the Red Sox on this board? Rent free.
