I don't think he moves the needle much, probably more than Acuña, but the potential ceiling is lower. I'd give Acuña another spring training at the very least.

6 minutes ago6 min I don't think the squeeze is worth the juice. Mateo is, at best, a very marginal improvement over Luisangel. Acuna is a magician at SS, is faster, and is already comfortable in his role on this team. Mateo may provide a bit more at the dish but that's about the only advantage he has. Luisangel isn't the issue with this team. We need to be finding a replacement for Grichuk....he's clearly the weak link on this roster at this point in the season.

This guy is supposed to be very solid at SS as well FWIW. Acuna seems to get a long well with the club and if we have to cut him here I agree, if he has an option might be worth considering if Getz has a good idea of the personality of Mateo and if he'd be willing to be the 26th man.
