Lol right.

He has the best schedule right now. He ditches west coast trips, etc. Have you not noticed how often Beckham or Plesak replace him for entire series?

I don’t think Steve hates his partners as much as people online seem to think he does. Sure sometimes it seems like he might be slightly annoyed. I don’t think he overtly dislikes John, Jason, or even Hawk. Otherwise he wouldn’t have stuck around for 2 decades.

Seems to me his biggest pet peeve is when Schriff asks him to draw from his pitching experience to comment on things that are somewhat out of place.

“So Steve, we’re looking at Noah Shultz, young kid, really struggling here to get outs. What would you do back in the day to kind of… reset… and try to take a breath? Would you ever do that and would that ever help you get back in the game? What do you think Noah is going through and thinking right about now.”

If the camera went to the booth, I swear we would see Stone looking at John like he wants to punch him while he’s glowing red. You can just hear it in his voice by how he responds.

“Something like that John. Yes.” 😆

Close the thread. It won’t get better than this. 😆

He sticks around for the easy money.

We all could only WISH to have as sweet of a life as Stone.

Imagine retiring with a top 1% income playing baseball for a couple decades and then spending the next two decades getting paid hundreds of thousands to millions more annually to travel the country and call baseball games for about 25 to 30 hours a week at most.

Sign me the f*** up for those 40 years.

They apparently ditched Schriff on the North Side.

He just disprespects them and treats them like crap.

What does that have to do with him doing it for the money? I think he’s clearly getting special treatment because he’s been with the Sox for so long. When you’re his age and have been as loyal to a team as you have been, you tend to get some special privileges. He’s pushing 80. He’s made generational wealth. I don’t think he even has any kids? I don’t think he really cares about the money.

Im sure it isn’t his top priority but let’s not kid ourselves - he wouldn’t be doing this if they proposed cutting his pay to $0.

Stone is actually pushing 80. He just turned 79 last month. He spends as much time on air trolling his partner as he does sharing his baseball knowledge. He’s coasting/milking it at this point.

We’re going to miss him when he’s gone. Same with when Hawk was still around and so many people would talk s%*#.

Then he retires and you see the “options” that end up replacing him… immediately everyone wishes we still had Hawk around.

Speaking of which - imagine how hard core he would be in on this team and these games. Dude would be through the moon and blowing a gasket in the best possible way.

Unless they replace Stone with his Schiff equivilant, (ie Connor) I assure you I will be fine. I would be thrilled if they would figure out a way to get Pleasac on the call.

Pleasac

He would be a great replacement for Stone.
