LA Angels sold to Kroenke Sports & Entertainment

If he does for the Angels what he's done for the Rams and Nuggets, the Dodgers are going to start having some real competition in the market.

And the Avalanche.. dude seems like a top tier owner.

The Los Angeles Angels were sold for an estimated valuation of around $4 billion (greater than $3.9 billion), setting a new Major League Baseball record...thanks AI lol

The Los Angeles Angels are valued at $2.7 billion (11th) according to CNBC's Official MLB Team Valuations. [1]

Most recent Forbes number was $2.8 billion.

That now puts the White Sox into $2-2.5 billion territory going by the SoCal franchise values exploding...and the Angels have neither a good team nor the Padres' stadium/entertainment district working to their advantage

The Chicago White Sox are valued at $2.15 billion by CNBC, ranking them 15th among all 30 Major League Baseball franchises. [1, 2]

Sox somewhere between #15-17...

JR and family likes this $350 million jump!!!

Their biggest success has probably been Arsenal. And there is a real comparison to the state of Arsenal when they fully took over the Club with where the Angels are at. Took them over September 18 when Arsenal were out of the Champions League. 8 years later, they are PL champions and a PK away from winning the Champions League. They installed very good people at Arsenal. Will see what they do with the Angels.

If the sale price ballooned to $2.3-2.5 billion, it would pretty much offset any/all capital gains losses he’s staring at now @ a $1.8-1.9 billion valuation.

Although it’s likely Ishbia has locked in most of those 2029-34 numbers already.

What’s the next math lesson, teach?

He also built a privately-financed stadium for the Rams. It wouldn't surprise me if he does the same with the Angels when their lease is up in the 2030s.

Blame it on AI

If they can replicate what they did with Arsenal for the Angels, it would be quite something.

I don't think Arsenal were anywhere near the state of disrepair the Angels currently are.

They weren't as bad but it was as toxic. Fans were actively protesting ownership and for a spell, spurs had legitimate bragging rights for biggest team in North London.

Suzuki is their Unai emery. Who knows who would be their Arteta?

You just knew this was also coming.

Must be nice not to have to wait around 3-8 more years for something to change incrementally...except for pro sports franchise valuations.

It looks like Kroenke's people are tamping down the new stadium talk a bit. They're not saying it could never happen, but it's not at the top of their list. That makes sense since their current lease runs through 2032 and can be extended through 2038. Angel Stadium is bland, a bit dated, but serviceable in the short-term and the Angels draw well. If the Sox drew 2.5M a year when they were losing 90+ games multiple years in a row, they'd be thrilled.

I still think Kroenke gets a new ballpark built for them in Anaheim eventually. As I mentioned earlier, with the A's new stadium under construction, the Rays looks like they'll break ground soon, and the Royals look like they're well on their way to a new stadium, that really only leaves the Angels and the White Sox without "forever homes" that would likely be around for another 20 years.
