Maggs-Nomar swapped, pending A-rod

Featured Replies

I must say the prospects of landing Nomar excite me.  He is definitely a fan favorite and would fill some seats.

Nomar would only fill seats for about 2 weeks. After that, if the team isn't in contention, Ramon backwards isn't going to have the slightest effect on attendance.

Its pretty sad that we could of got Everett for $7M U.S. for two years and we wouldn't have had to trade any prospects for him, now that he is in Montreal. Maybe we could get Juan Gonzalez for the same price? :fthecubs

How about Winn, Soriano, Garcia, and Guillen for Nomar package? This really opens up possibilites by narrowing the number of hitter available. They would give Guillen for Visquel and might dump Garcia anyway so who knows?

Do you think that Seattle found out the White Sox would be able to send them Nomar, so they failed Vizquel on his physical?

:fthecubs The Seattle trade works for me, but how bout, Danny Wright and Nomar for Ichiro and Garcia?

There's no way they'd do that.

Ichiro and Nomar more or less equal each other out, if Danny Wright is not enough, then send Valentine or Konerko. :fthecubs

Then think about this for a second.

If you had Freddy Garcia, would you trade him for Danny Wright.

I think you know the answer to that my friend.

I am on the keep Nomar boat. The problem last season was lack of "O"

The issue continues to be the essential difference between restructuring and reducing," Orza told The Boston Globe on Tuesday night. "We don't authorize reducing, we authorize restructuring. There has to be some added value to the player."

ok, so on principle I understand why this is not a good precedent to establish...but if a guy wants to alter his contract in a way that benefits Team A, Team B AND the player...why not? I would suggest it just has to go through both the Player's union and the commish.

when seattle is about to non-tender garcia??

Wow. Hurry up and happen already. We all of a sudden have a lot of shortstops.

Any people in Chicago are you hearing anything on the local radio or TV?

No its a possible White Sox trade. If it were the Cubs, they would be breaking into regularly scheduled programming

Thats for sure, if we got Nomar he would be buried in the Sports section, behind the Cubs getting Michael Barrett. :fthecubs

holy s***, i just logged on for the first time since last night, and all i have to say is........wow. Hopefully when i get home from school, we will have nomah!

Yes, they're "inflated" for pitchers, so what?

Nomar is a free agent(I believe) at the end of the year, and unless he has an all-time career terrible year, he'll command as much money as Maggs.  If the Sox won't pony up the dough for a career .300-30-100 guy at the Cell, why would they give it to someone who I fear would consistently put up .270-20-75, playing in Chicago?  They'll lose him after one season, and get a few measly draft picks for him.  Perez and Mota are both signed for awhile(exactly why Evans HAS to trade Perez, and hesitates to include Mota in on deals), and the prospects could help restock our somewhat depleted farm system.  Lefty starters are ALWAYS a commodity, and prospects can ALWAYS be used as trade chips.

That's why the trade was contingent on being able to sign him to an extension. And anyway I'd rather have one year of Nomar than five of Odalis Perez.

How can you say, "Yes, they're 'inflated' for pitchers, so what?" when you based your whole argument to that point on devauling Nomar's numbers at Fenway. :bang

Odalis "The Messiah" Perez

Home 6-3 2.73 ERA .99 WHIP .215 AVG against

Road 6-9 5.59 ERA 1.45 WHIP .297 AVG against

Sign him up.

IMO Odalis Perez = Todd Ritchie + bad attitude.

So lets keep Nomar, and sign Ponson, and we don't need Perez, we could trade Wright or Rauch for Williamson, and I would be happy with that. :fthecubs

The same association I was making in my head, not to mention we'd have to give up a lot more to get him.

Are Kip Wells or Josh Fogg available? :fthecubs

Nomar probably would sign a contract extension abd when Mia Hamm comes to games more attendance.

they were crap last year

Am I the only one who says f*** Dan Evans? He can have Konerko or Valentin and that's it.
