January 12, 200422 yr who is our leadoff hitter? Willie Harris- Career .213 hitter with a .255 OBP Aaron Rowand- Career .273 Hitter with a .325 OBP Jose Valentin- Career .246 Hitter with a .324 OBP Juan Uribe- Career .258 Hitter with a .298 OBP
January 12, 200422 yr Author i like Lee hitting 2nd. makes for a nice 2-6 with Lee, Ordonez, Thomas, Konerko and Crede.
January 12, 200422 yr maybe I should add other to the list.. and who that other may be? Can't think of one at this point...let's get a list of current players (not including pitchers) for the Sox. Catchers 15 Sandy Alomar 27 Jamie Burke 8 Miguel Olivo -- Mike Rivera Infielders 24 Joe Crede -- Ross Gload 13 Willie Harris 14 Paul Konerko -- Juan Uribe 22 Jose Valentin -- Ruddy Yan Outfielders 25 Joe Borchard 45 Carlos Lee 30 Magglio Ordonez 33 Aaron Rowand Designated Hitters 35 Frank Thomas 40 Man Roster (with links to stats)
January 12, 200422 yr lets make Konerko or Thomas the leadoff hitter. Their speed is amazing. C'mon, we all know Sandy is way faster than those two! But the question is, can any of those three beat a pregnant woman in a race?
January 12, 200422 yr It's going to be Harris from the outset of Spring Training, but they'll probably have to go with Dorn if Harris can't get on base. This almost makes me miss Kenny Lofton........ALMOST........
January 12, 200422 yr I have this odd feeling that Jeremy Reed will be our starting CF and leadoff hitter coming out of spring training.
January 12, 200422 yr Author ESPN's scounting report comment on Jeremy Reed Although Reed's running speed is "just" above average, he is aggressive and refined on the bases, and should continue to steal at higher levels.
January 13, 200422 yr If Reed gets the starting job over Rowand, Aaron will be devestaded Rowand has to earn it......
January 13, 200422 yr Rowand has to earn it...... With all due respect to Rowand, I hope Reed beats him out.(that's if a trade comes and puts lee as DH and reed in LF) Thank you Ribbie for mentioning reed as well...(can't believe no one else did)
January 13, 200422 yr Rowand has to earn it...... Maybe, but Reed IMO must be above and way beyond AaRow after ST to take the job from him. How can one reasonably judge AaRow from the sporadic starting time he has had?? Let Reed get his AAA seasoning, and don't try to throw him up here a-la Joe Borchard style...although I do believe the Reed will be a better MLB player than Borchard, if he ever is a MLB player.
January 13, 200422 yr Reed is the best leadoff guy we hav, but he needs more time down at AAA. Harris should be a #9 hitter in the order, but he'll prob start leadoff. It's a great oppurtunity for him though.
