Moronotti Strikes Again

Again, I'm not disagreeing with you on the fact that Magglio is purely a total class act. My only question is, is that class worth putting into a situation where we might not be able to afford that one extra reliever or help down the road that could help us? 10 million difference over 5 years is quite a bit. I just think the 12 to 12.5 million area is about right. There are some other classy players on that list too besides Bonds that are making less, even just after signing extensions. I'm just trying to look at this rationally, without necessarily drinking my White Sox Kool AId:).

BTW, is McGwire a disgrace to the game as well? I can say that I'm pretty sure he was taking supplements, which I'm sure Bonds has too. I'll be curious to see if the steroids were part of his "diet". If so, he should definitely be stripped of every record he has broken.

Not sure why anyone would've bothered getting past the first paragraph of this tripe.

I honestly couldnt get past the first paragraph...and I do not plan on it either.

Andro, what is what McGwire was using, was perfectly legal when he was using it. Big Mac is innocent as far as I'm concerned.

And as I said, IF they find Bonds was using steroids, and not supplements to get his bulk, then I agree he should be stripped of records. McGwire was skinny his rookie year and got huge.....Bonds and some other players may have done the same. It'll all come out sooner or later.

I would give Maggs 5 years for $60million but no more. The Mariners said good bye two three future Hall Of Famers: Randy Johnson, Griffey and A-Rod, and they are always contenders. A's said good bye to Giambi and Tejada and they are still contenders. Magglio is good but unfortunately he plays the most replacable position in baseball, the outfield.

Don't forget we have Bochard, Reed, Sweeney and Anderson waiting in the minors.

Speaking of Reed...

He's up to .355. 3 for 4 last night, 3 singles. :headbang

It would have been nice of Mariotti to save the contract column and merely

write a nice one about the sweep.

I agree with that.

On the other hand, Reinsdork deserves to be ripped whenever the media

gets a chance.

I don't like Jerry R.

I can't wait till Reed finds his stroke and breaks out of this sub.400 slump he's in. :D

This is the part that ruffles me...

Why write that? The Cubs have never displayed any interest in Mags.

What an asswipe

Almost sounds a lot like he's writing this article for CubsTalk, doesn't it?

I hope they get Maggs resigned, so we can all write in more letters of how Mariotti is wrong again on so many levels.

BTW, I really do not know why many consider this guy a good writer at all. To be a good writer, you have to have facts to support your point, and at one point he says something to the extent of "The two sides say they are close to a deal, but really they are not" and he has nothing to support it. Is he like the ultimate ruling hand who has the final word in everything? Methinks that Sosa is not the biggest ego in this town anymore. :headshake

At least Sham-me has a little something to back his ego up. Moronatti does not.

Which is the sad thing. Mariotti's enormous ego is based on complete s***.

$10 says that if Maggs is resigned, Mariotti says that the Sox overpaid and should have traded Maggs rather then resign him.

Why is there a thread dedicated to this waste of humanity again?

That's a gimmie. That guy is the biggest 2 faced asshole I've ever seen.
