I didn't get to see the gm tonight. But lookin at the stats, I can see Vasquez bamboozled our offense again. Was he that good tonight? Did we blow opportunities? I hate gettin shut down by the same pitcher twice in what 2 weeks? Seems like we can only get off against below average pitching. Not a good sign at all.

I wouldn't look at it as a sign of anything. The guy has ace stuff on a $200 million dollar team. He's good, nothing else to say. Tip your cap and be thankful we won't have to face him throughout the regular season anymore.

Yeah, tip your cap to the best pitcher that you'll have to go up against all year. Sheesh. I'd rather go up against Pedro.

Yankees are simply a superior talent team, no shame in admitting that.

 

Hopefully I am proven wrong and Show wins tomorrow, but I doubt it.

I realize he's a good pitcher. But we just saw the guy a couple weeks ago. A good team would've made the necessary adjustments and done some damage the second time around. Then again. It's too early to say we have a good team or not.

I've been saying this since after the 2000 playoffs. The White Sox need, desperately, a good solid left handed hitting RBI producer. A good right handed pitcher can shut this team down. You know, the kind we'd see in the playoffs if we make it? .... I've seen it time and time again. A good righty, or a mediocre righty on a good night is trouble for us. The Sox have been throwing the team batting average or slugging percentage vs. righties out as "proof" that they hit righties very well. That's been going on for years. Well, there are a lot of bad to mediocre righties out there in Detroit, Texas, Baltimore, etc. Unfortunately, we won't be facing that kind of pitcher in mid-October. Look at what's happened this year. We've lost 6 games. The opening day fiasco in KC, shut down by Vazquez in NY, beaten by Mussina in NY, shut down by that kid in Tampa, then Buehrle's meltdown last night and shut down by Vazquez again. That's four losses directly attributed to losing to right handed pitchers.

If Reed's power develops, yes. He could still be valuable as an OBP type of guy, but that's not what I'm talking about. Giles, in the middle of our lineup, would be awesome.

I don't know if he could have done that either. That was one BIG strike zone last night. I think Maggs would have gotten rung up looking, before he would have walked.

Arguably the best pitcher on the Yankees staff shut us down, and the world is crumbling.

 

Vazquez throws in the high 90's with a damn fine curve, Id say hes the best pitcher that Ive seen this year.

 

The Sox kept it close, they were in the game the entire time, and it could of gone either way.

 

I wish the Sox went 162-0, but they are gonna undoubtedly lose 60, and the losses that come to the Yankees and Vaz barely sting.

I'm not sure Brian Giles will accept a trade to Chicago(otherwise he'd probably already be here...remember 2001?). But I'll take Carlos Delgado at the deadline when Toronto is out of it. They take on Konerko and Koch, and about $2 mill of his $18 mill contract(which would actually be roughly $1 mill at the deadline). We barely take on any of his contract, so we still have room to get a great pitcher too.

 

I'd also take Raffy Palmeiro, and it probably wouldn't cost Konerko and Koch either(though Baltimore can have Koch if they want, especially if we could get Julio from them).

That's why this game is so hard.

Exactly what I wish more people realized. It's tough to come through in situations like that. Maggs is a guy who does it a lot, but you certainly can't rip on him for failing twice.

Sean Casey would be a nice lefty bat. Ken Griffey would be nice as well, but Griffey is too injury-y and to money-y (Boers and Bernstein-isms, lol). If Konerko continues hitting like he has been, I see no need to trade Konerko.

The Reds can keep Sean Casey. We have a player like Sean Casey in the minors, only probably better, in Jeremy Reed.

 

By lefty bat in the middle of the lineup, I mean we need a serious f***ing threat in the middle of the lineup. Not a 20-25 homer guy. I'm talking big power, around 35-40 homers a year(I'll take 30-35 too) with a .900-.950 OPS at the very least, and, if there is one available, one that can put up a 1.000+ OPS. We could use one very badly.
