They will only make it up if it has an affect on the standing at the end of tyhe year.

And in all likelihood it will make a difference and need to be made up just before the divisional playoffs. Sox and/or Phillies should both be in it at the end, and unless they are both more than a game in back or in front of the next closest team in the standings (divisional races and WC), at least one meaningful outcome will depend on the game getting played.
