June 13, 200421 yr The last 3-4 years, this guy has been a living proof that OBP while very nice isn't everthing - walks don't drive in runs. Hits an oppositte field gap 2-run jack off Farnsworth to tie the game at 4.

June 14, 200421 yr Cubs got a 5-4 lead in the top of the 11th (and also left the bags full), but with 2 outs and the tying run on 3rd, Vlad just lined a single to tie it up. 5-5 to the 12th.
June 14, 200421 yr Best OF in the majors, hands down - Guillen, Anderson, and Vlad. And Raul Mondesi as a backup. However - ours could be just as good, if Beltran becomes a White Sox. But like Hawk says: "Don't tell me how much you hit, tell me when you hit it."

He missed a walk-off 3-run shot off Hawkins as well. If the pitch is 93 mph instead of 95, that ball is a double/HR instead of a towering FO.
June 14, 200421 yr Over dramatized catch (at the warning track) by Hollandsworth sends this game into the 13th.
June 14, 200421 yr Hate to give pub to a Cub player, but Hollandsworth just made a nice grab to rob Kotchman of extra bases.
June 14, 200421 yr Hate to give pub to a Cub player, but Hollandsworth just made a nice grab to rob Kotchman of extra bases. I thought it was a nice catch, he went into the wall actually pretty hard. Good play IMHO. Also, RECKLESS REX HUDLER!!!
June 14, 200421 yr I thought it was a nice catch, he went into the wall actually pretty hard. Good play IMHO. Also, RECKLESS REX HUDLER!!! I agree it was a nice grab, but I agree with Flash. Chip Caray is treating it like Willie Mays vs the Indians in '54.
June 14, 200421 yr And Raul Mondesi as a backup Mondesi is hurt, but still one hell of an outfield. I'm regreting dropping Anderson in fantasy now.
June 14, 200421 yr I agree it was a nice grab, but I agree with Flash. Chip Caray is treating it like Willie Mays vs the Indians in '54. Yeah, I agree they made it seem like it was more than it was, but it was still a very good grab by Hollandsworth, one which their normal RF would have probably played off the wall.

June 14, 200421 yr First base umpire makes a GREAT call at 1B to end the 13th for the Cubs. If they lose, this will be their excuse.
June 14, 200421 yr "Off the wall"? Don't you mean "Off his head"? Nope, he probably couldn't have even got there hahahaha. He's no Canseco ya know.
June 14, 200421 yr Author I think it's pretty pathetic that Vlad wasn't given a (2-run) error on a routine pop-fly in the 7th. There is such a low standard for fielding it's not even funny. A fielder can lose the ball in the lights with bases loaded and not get an error because, you see, fielding is.just.so.damn.hard....... I'd love to see a batter strike out (or a pitcher give up a HR on a mistake pitch or a baserunner get caught stealing, etc) and then asking the official scorer not to count the AB because he lost the ball in the background or was simply too late to react....... :headshake

It is IMPOSIBLE when the ball is in the right spot, and all the fielder can do is hope that it falls in his glove because you cannot see it. It is simply imposible, and shouldn't be an error. If a pitcher makes a mistake, it's not because he couldn't see the catcher, and when a batter strikes out, it's not because he couldn't see the ball.
June 14, 200421 yr Again, Angels choke against a scrub Cub reliever. Cubs unfortantely understand the concept of clutch hitting. Cubs lead 6-5 bottom of the 15th.
June 14, 200421 yr Author When is the last time you fielded a mile high fly out with the sun in your eyes? When was the last time a point flew right over your head and you made a stupid reply? I mean, not counting the above. You think it's easier to hit a 95 fastball or throw a 2-0 breaking ball than it is to f***NIG CATCH A f***ING POP UP OR GET A GOOD READ ON A SOFT LINER THAT SEEMINGLY HANGS FOREVER???!! Moron.
