June 21, 200421 yr Ignore the spelling on this, but I read this morning that the Sox are officially calling up Vic Darrensbourg and have again stalled Kelley Dransfeldt's inevitable enshrinement in Cooperstown by sending him back down. I hadn't seen this here, so I thought I would add it. Viva Ozzie!
June 21, 200421 yr darrensbourg is a relief pitcher who has been around awhile. i believe he was once a part of the marlins system
June 21, 200421 yr what happened t jose santiago wasn't he good with cleveland last year? why don't we bring him up? also where are josh stewert and david sanders, and mike porzio? how are they doing?
June 21, 200421 yr Wasn't Darensbourg AWFUL in spring training? I seem to remember him stinking up Arizona pretty bad.
June 21, 200421 yr Wasn't Darensbourg AWFUL in spring training? I seem to remember him stinking up Arizona pretty bad. As was Takatsu IIRC
June 21, 200421 yr I thought Varensbourg was released during Spring Training? Nope, sent to AAA. Originally, they Sox said they were going to bring up Darensbourg but not activate him until they figured out if Crede was hurt badly. If they are activating him now, and sending down a middle infielder, then Crede must be just fine. This was as of Saturday night's post-game.
June 21, 200421 yr If I remember correctly as stated b4, didn't Takatsu have a very bad ST? Bad enough to where they weren't sure if he'd make the team? Darensbourg can't be much worse than some of the bums they have in the pen right now.
June 21, 200421 yr His best season was in 98 when he had a 3.68 ERA in 70+ innings but has not had an ERA below 4.20 since...last year his ERA was 8
June 21, 200421 yr Darensburg did have a rough spring, but he's been pitching well at Charlotte. Santiago has been knocked around a bit lately, Porzio is not with the organization and Sanders has not had a good year in AAA. He's slated for the long relief role with the Sox.
June 21, 200421 yr I wouldn't have minded Bajenaru or Majewski getting a shot, but after the 5th starter carousel, my guess is they wanted a veteran who has been in the bigs before.
June 21, 200421 yr This makes sense. With Wunsch on the DL, and a bunch of our relievers stinking up the place, why not give someone who's pitching well in AAA a shot?
June 21, 200421 yr What ever happened to Grilli? I thought he was doing a good job in AAA. He is doing well, but I think that the Sox want to keep him getting work as a starter even if it is in AAA.
June 22, 200421 yr This makes sense. With Wunsch on the DL, and a bunch of our relievers stinking up the place, why not give someone who's pitching well in AAA a shot? I don't like it though of how they are bringing up Darensbourg...
June 22, 200421 yr As was Takatsu IIRC Takatsu WAS awful. Awful enough, IIRC, that, had he not had a guaranteed contract, he would have been released or at the very least, sent to the minors. Good thing that didn't happen.
June 22, 200421 yr Takatsu WAS awful. Awful enough, IIRC, that, had he not had a guaranteed contract, he would have been released or at the very least, sent to the minors. Good thing that didn't happen. Shingo retired his last 24 batters and is only 3 shy of the bullpen equivalent of a perfect game. Well, he was - until I jinxed him just now.

June 22, 200421 yr I heard we cut Porzio. Grilli could be an option...did we trade something for him?
June 22, 200421 yr I heard we cut Porzio. Grilli could be an option...did we trade something for him? Grilli was a Rule 4 or Rule 5 draft pick, I always can't remember which draft that is. We paid $50,000 to select him I think.
