June 23, 200421 yr There was a crowd of 27,922 at the Cell last night, and get this, That was the smallest crowd of the last 4 games at Comiskey. 712,331 people have made the trip to the south side in the first 32 games. Over the same 32 games last season, the sox drew 555,935. 156,396 more fans have watched the sox play already this year. That's almost 5,000 more per game. 28% more than last season. We did not reach 712,000 until the 40th game last season (the Cubs series). Over the last 41 games last seaon about 1.2MIL(500,000 more than in the first half) went through the turnstiles at Comiskey. If we draw simillarly over the last 40(philly probably wont be made up) we will easily eclipse the 2MIL mark. I figure we are likely to approach 2.3MIL in paid attendance. I'm not the only person who can see the numbers. JR knows what they are. He's already told KW that he has a bigger budget to play with. I expect KW to really make some noise. I can't really imagine him getting outbid for a player when there is this amount of support from the fans.
June 23, 200421 yr I think the fans know we really hav a great chance at winnin the division this season, with Ozzie as the new manager, it's created a real buzz, and the fans are gettin their asses on the seats at the Cell.
June 23, 200421 yr Odd that the attendance spike coincides with the Us and Them commercial... IIRC, the commercial aired during the first Braves game. Attendance really spiked for the second one and ever since.
June 23, 200421 yr . (philly probably wont be made up) I thought they were going to play Philly on an off day after Philly plays the Cub.
June 23, 200421 yr I thought they were going to play Philly on an off day after Philly plays the Cub. Philly would be in town, and we would be traveling from Det to KC. So it is possible.
June 23, 200421 yr Cheat... not to let air out of the point, but the Yanks series accounted for nearly half of that 150K increase. The number, especially with the s***ty weather, is incredible though.
June 23, 200421 yr I still say we need to have "Dress Up as a Blue Seat" days so it appears the Stadium is full every game!
June 23, 200421 yr Any of you that watched the game on TV last night, we need to bring that old lady back for every game, she was hilarious
June 23, 200421 yr Any of you that watched the game on TV last night, we need to bring that old lady back for every game, she was hilarious Ella is there for nearly every home game.
June 23, 200421 yr Any of you that watched the game on TV last night, we need to bring that old lady back for every game, she was hilarious All I was saying was... “Win one for grandma.” And so the Sox did. Thank you Valentin.
June 23, 200421 yr Ella is there for nearly every home game. No way. Never seen her around the park before.
June 23, 200421 yr No way. Never seen her around the park before. She's been around for over 50 years
June 23, 200421 yr And attendance is also up with seats in the upper deck taken out. It would be the same since no one even goes in the Upper Deck...
June 23, 200421 yr Im going to go out on a limb, and say that what he means is that since there is a lower capacity now, that more percent of the stadium is filled. I'm not sure what % has to do with anything since cheat is using actual attendance figures. Oh well...
June 23, 200421 yr It would be the same since no one even goes in the Upper Deck... Well there's an ignorant (as in un-informed...) statement.
June 23, 200421 yr No, it's not. Look up next time you attend a game. Yeah, I was their yesterday...it didn't look full to me...
June 23, 200421 yr Yeah, I was their yesterday...it didn't look full to me... Who said anyting about "full". Your quote: "It would be the same since no one even goes in the Upper Deck... " Which is wrong.
June 23, 200421 yr And I will officially disprove the "no one goes in the Upper Deck" theory tomorrow as I'll be sitting in there.
June 23, 200421 yr Who said anyting about "full". Your quote: "It would be the same since no one even goes in the Upper Deck... " Which is wrong. Fine, you got me
