Question on homerun balls at the Cubs-Sox series

Featured Replies

I'm always completely against throwing homeruns back onto the field that were hit by visiting teams, BUT there's something that would feel good about throwing a homerun back hit by the Cubs. Almost like a slap in their face since they do it to everyone else. Thoughts?

No.

Hell No!

Let them throw back the balls, like morons.

Give yours to a kid if you don't want it.

On a related note...I like how everytime a Cub Fan throws back a ball now, Chip Carey needs to comment on how that ball is a fake one that fan brought into the game and not the real HR ball. Cubs brass must be hearing the negative feedback towards this "tradition". So instead of telling fans to stop, they have Chip lie a bit.

:banghead

Only Cub fans throw the ball back. Nuff said.

one word: NO!

It's a home run ball, KEEP IT

Never throw it back. If you don't want it, give to a kid nearby. You'll make their day.

Just my opinion, but i think throwing back a fake ball ruins the 'tradition'. If it's not important to you, then throw it back...don't hide the fact that you really want it and then throw a fake one back

It's stupid all around

NO f***in way.

and by you asking this question it must be apparent that you are one of those boobs yelling "throw it back"

Never throw it back.  If you don't want it, give to a kid nearby.  You'll make their day.

That's exactly what I was going to propose.

Pass it along everyone. :fthecubs

Absolutely not. It is a stupid f***in tradition and it ain't our tradition anyway. If ya don't want a homerun hit by another team then dont f***in catch it or go after it...make sense?? if you happen to get it...and you don't want it for whatever reason...then give it to a kid.

I can't believe the idiots that are screaming "throw it back" at the cell...It makes me sick..... :puke

No. If anything give it to a kid or bring a trash can and when you catch it, throw it in there for everyone to see.

That is a good one! Of course, Isn't all cub stuff trash anyway?

No, while at the Sox game yesterday 2 balls were thrown back which made me mad. If you don't want the ball give it to a kid, it is a professional baseball! Why the hell would you give it up? You have a 1 out of 25,000+ people chance to get a ball and take full advantage out of it

Actually I'm usually one of those guys yelling "THIS ISN'T WRIGLEY!" at they guys yelling "Throw it back!" I was just curious if this could be considered unusual circumstances....apparently not.

ABSOLUTELY NOT! I hate sox fans who throw the stupid HR. Ball back! It's moronic!

And everybody bring cell phones and ignore the game.

or wave to the camera...like those idiots on WCIU last night.

or wave to the camera...like those idiots on WCIU last night.

Let's do the wave!

If some idiot throws back a homer, whichever player gets it should be allowed to call time and go and hand it to a kid....

1) It would teach people what they should do with a ball and 2) The person that tossed the ball back would get the ever loving s*** heckled out of him for postponing the game....

I hope the sox have a graphic ready on the scoreboard that says THIS AIN'T WRIGLEY or something...

A more interesting question is what a Cub fan does in that situation at the Cell when a Sox players hits a home run?

No.

that says it all

just because they act like assholes in their home is no reason for us to act like assholes when they play in our home

From what I have gathered here, should I assume the prevailing opinion is no? ;-)

Last night on the home run hit by Matt Lawton, I think the guy that caught it threw it back. There was a guy behind him trying to grab his arm so he couldn't throw it. I found that comical.

I really think that the USCF staff should escort anyone who throws a ball on the field to thier car immediately. Hawk & DJ should should show them being escorted out. The balls back on the field thing would end very quickly after that.

all the people by me were cheering for some reason when they threw it back i was almost in tears :crying

If you really don't want it, head to the nearest bathroom, throw it into the urinal and relieve yourself. Then some poor soul can try and fish it out if he pleases.
