June 23, 200421 yr During this morning's car ride home from Driver's Ed, my father pained me in listening to the (bleh) Marri (bleh) Otti (bleh) Show (bleh). I wasn't really paying attention, but I heard something about 'On Around the Horn today, the question will be asked 'Which team has a better chance at the playoffs, Cubs or Sox?' Now, I'm not really into the whole Cubs/Sox pissing match until we play them (during that time I shred Cub fans to pieces ), but just wanted to give you guys the heads-up, I know some of you watch it, and it will be cool seeing the national perspective on us, from such great columnists like Woody Paige...
June 23, 200421 yr Can't wait to see what Paige has to say about this one... I think Cowlishaw (sp?) is the only guy worth listening to on there
June 23, 200421 yr I don't know how anyone could diss Mariotti. He's easily my favorite sportswriter of all time and I take great joy in reading his column every day. Then again, I'm a Packer fan and the White Sox are the ONLY Chicago team I could and would ever root for. Therefore, I guess that explains why I like Mariotti. I'm no Chicago sports fan, but I do love and bleed the White Sox. That's it. Jay Mariotti RULES.

June 23, 200421 yr I listen to the Mariotti show when I'm driving in the car during Drivers ed. Mariotti's ok. Its obviously his job to write the stuff he does, so I'll listen to his show sometimes.
June 23, 200421 yr Mariotti may be a "windsock", but he's 100% right about Reinsdorf being NOT committed to bringing a WS to the South Side!
June 23, 200421 yr I miss Michael Holley. He was really good on that show. Now he's on Max Kellerman's new show. Oh God that is the worst show ever. Kellerman is being such a poser on that show pretending that he is always right. He reminds me of Jim Rome. :fyou Rome Mariotti is such a prick. I agree with him more than I thought, but he definitely is stubborn on some things.
June 23, 200421 yr I really like ATH. I think Paige and Marriotti are morons. But Woody can be funny. Cowlishaw and Plaschke are pretty good.
June 23, 200421 yr Ohhh you can bet they will say the Scrubs are more likely to make it. All that Cubbie love ya know. Esp with the recent struggles of the pitching staff, starters and bullpen.
June 23, 200421 yr Here's the answer, and you're not going to like it. The Cubs have a better shot at making the playoffs. The Cubs and Sox have about an equal shot of winning thier respective divisions, but the Cubs have a chance to win the wild card if they fall short of that goal. The Sox have no shot at the wild card with the likes of Boston, NY, Oak, and ANA winning at furious paces.
June 23, 200421 yr Woody actually made some good points, but he really never had a chance to win this argument.
June 23, 200421 yr Jeter better than Nomar? This show is pissing me off the more and more I watch.. :puke
June 23, 200421 yr I like stat boys argument. The question is this year who will win and he goes back to previous years to counter Paige.
June 23, 200421 yr Jeter better than Nomar? This show is pissing me off the more and more I watch.. :puke ...................... Anyways, what were the panels arguments for who has the greater chance of reaching the playoffs. I'm especially interested in Mariotti's response.
June 23, 200421 yr Jeter better than Nomar? This show is pissing me off the more and more I watch.. :puke That is why i do not watch the show they make stupid statements. :puke
June 23, 200421 yr Author ...................... Anyways, what were the panels arguments for who has the greater chance of reaching the playoffs. I'm especially interested in Mariotti's response. It was the Elimination round, and Adonde and Woody Paige argued. Adonde stated the Cubs, saying they have dominant pitching, won it last year, blah blah. Paige said the Sox have the best staff in the AL Central, and stated it to be a weak division.
June 23, 200421 yr Did Paige say the White Sox have the best pitcher in the American league or did i hear him wrong ??
June 23, 200421 yr Did Paige say the White Sox have the best pitcher in the American league or did i hear him wrong ?? I thought I heard that too.
June 23, 200421 yr You two heard right! I have no idea who he is refering to. Mr. Zero maybe? It has to be there are seriously no other choices.
June 23, 200421 yr You two heard right! I have no idea who he is refering to. Mr. Zero maybe? I thought Buehrle even though he's been far from the best pitcher in baseball.
June 23, 200421 yr I thought Buehrle at first to because hes been great except for a few games where he gave up a ton of runs which accounts for the ERA part. Shingo does make more sense.
June 23, 200421 yr Author I thought I heard he said we had the best staff in the AL, but maybe I heard wrong. Maybe he was trying to say AL Central, Woodie isn't a very good speaker....
