June 25, 200421 yr Anyone else think it's time for Uribe to go back to the bench? His average has dropped from .341 to .290-something here over the past 1 1/2 mos. Of course there is no way he could have kept that .341 average in place.. but he must be hitting .250 to make a .51 drop.
June 25, 200421 yr The scouting report on Uribe is pretty simple. He doesn't take a walk, so throw it out of the zone and he'll swing at it.
June 25, 200421 yr No, Uribe has to be playing. He is in a small slump, but also been very consistent. No time off for him till Magglio comes back.
June 25, 200421 yr Author I understand he may be in a slump.. Why not drop him in the order. He's hitting .225 for the entire Month of June!!!

June 25, 200421 yr Author New Lineup should be 1) Harris-CF 2) Rowand-RF 3) Thomas-DH 4) Lee-LF 5) Konerko-1B 6) Valentin-SS 7) Crede-3B 8) Uribe-2B 9) Olivo-C

June 26, 200421 yr The scouting report on Uribe is pretty simple. He doesn't take a walk, so throw it out of the zone and he'll swing at it. If this is true, he better change. You gotta take some walks or you are doomed as a player.
June 26, 200421 yr Uribe used to punish pitches middle away, smoked them to RF-RCF-CF. Now's trying to pull off all the time. Looks like Greedy Sluggeritis has found its way into his system. He is on just the right team.

June 26, 200421 yr Harris is our only somewhat realistic lead off man. Rowand doesn't take enough pitches nor works a count. Valentin and Uribe are too much of free swingers. Different subject, Olivo is starting to piss me off with his inability to touch anything offspeed. "Fastball he hit very much, but curveballs, bats are afraid!"
June 26, 200421 yr Harris is our only somewhat realistic lead off man Somewhat? Before going into his recent slump, he had mantained a 400 OBP versus RHP for almost 2 months (from April 10th through June 5th). With his speed, that's very good. As long as he concentrates on hitting the fastball to LF-LCF-CF (he can always go to RCF-RF on a hanging breaking ball), he'll be a big asset in the lead-off spot against righties. I believe Aaron is just fine versus LHP.
June 26, 200421 yr Why Willie wasnt playing today Ill never understand. He is much better at working pitchers than Uribe and Rowand, and thats the type of player you need against Prior. Hopefully Ozzie has him starting tomorrow. SB

You gotta take some walks or you are doomed as a player. I posted this before but once again I'll say my thing: Uribe worked with Walker early and often. He started the season with a real hot bat, but started getting away from what Walker was teaching. You can see it in his swings, his follow through with the bat, etc. He wamts to swing at everything and swings out of his shoes all the time. If he would listen to the hitting coach I think he would get back on track quickly, but he doesn't and that's his problem.
June 26, 200421 yr No.... Valentin SS Uribe 2B Thomas DH Lee LF Konerko 1B Borchard RF Rowand CF Crede 3B Burke C Valentin start? I will always save this post as an illustration of the quality of an MSU education
June 26, 200421 yr As I was watching the game yesterday, I kept noticing how badly Uribe looked in the box. It took me a little while to put my finger on it, but what he is doing is stepping out like an 8 year old kid that's afraid of the ball. I pointed it out to my girlfriend in the middle of the game, then DJ made a comment about Uribe's first move was "stepping into the bucket". This was late in the game and DJ attributed it to the fact that he couldn't pick up the pitch because of the shadows. That's wasn't it at all. Uribe was bailing out all game long.
June 26, 200421 yr I think pitchers have figured out to throw him more breaking balls now instead of fastballs. Uribe was never goin to hit over .300 forever.
June 26, 200421 yr He had a similar pattern fwith the Rockies. Fast start followed by mid season blahs. I had hoped that Ozzie would work some magic and keep him on a steady path.
