June 28, 200421 yr Ken Williams did say last night that he's working on another major trade. thats all he really says. http://proxy.espn.go.com/chat/chatESPN?event_id=5514 don't know if this has been posted. dont feel like looking through all the posts.
June 28, 200421 yr I would agree on the bullpen, they need another reliable arm down there, maybe two. Let me just throw this out there ... does anyone think Ben Davis is just passing through? I haven't heard Williams or Guillen or anybody have anything to say about Davis. Makes you wonder.
June 28, 200421 yr I haven't heard Williams or Guillen or anybody have anything to say about Davis. Makes you wonder. I never even thought about that. No one with the Sox has been talking about Davis. Also, doesn't someone have to be sent down to make room for him?

However Kenny did say that Davis would be on the major league club, but maybe he might move him in this deal with Atlanta. Didn't he do that last year with that minor leaguer we got in the Jimenez trade? Scott Dunn or something? Should be interesting to see what happends. CWSOX45

June 28, 200421 yr Gammons: "By the way, I would be careful throwing "Andruw Jones" and "Hall of Fame" in the same sentence!" i dont like that one bit
June 28, 200421 yr Yes, they got Dunn from Cincinnati and moved him to Anaheim in the Shoeneweis deal. I mean, let's face it, they absolutely had to get a catcher back in the Garcia deal. Olivo is better than Davis, no matter how we slice it. Stands to reason KW, at some level, is not happy that his catching has been weakened by this deal, though he's ecstatic about landing Freddy. I've always liked Davis and would like to see him settle in, he clearly needed a change of scenery from Seattle and Bob Melvin. Just thinking that maybe he's got someone specific in mind as a catcher, maybe other than Davis. On a totally unrelated note, Robbie Alomar is just begging to get out of Arizona. Now I'm not saying he would be a good pickup, or even needed, but R. Alomar is clearly a guy KW likes. Even with Robbie leaving via the contract snafu, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he's picked up later in the year. If God forbid Harris (or Rowand) got hurt, R. Alomar would be back on the south side in a heartbeat. All this being said ... if this team is a World Series contender, we need another bullpen arm and very frankly, another starter.
June 28, 200421 yr Let me just throw this out there ... does anyone think Ben Davis is just passing through? I haven't heard Williams or Guillen or anybody have anything to say about Davis. Makes you wonder. He gone! I hope. I don't like Davis much. However, I'm not basing my opinion on a lot.
June 28, 200421 yr Also, doesn't someone have to be sent down to make room for him? My guess is either Rauch or Diaz would go back to AAA and Davis would take olivo's spot. Davis should stay with the sox. Besides Burke [age 32], no one else is close to the bigs. Davis may get some time in AAA, or get a lot of work with Greg Walker. But I can't see him going elsewhere.

I could also see another deal soon.
June 28, 200421 yr With Cotts pitching okay, I could see Darensbourg (sp?) going down. I could also see another deal soon. Another deal is possible, probably involving either Rauch or Diaz. Neither Rauch or Diaz has pitched out of the pen and should keep starting, even if they go back to AAA when SS comes back. Vic D.'s a surprise but could stay to keep the pen fresh.

June 28, 200421 yr Yah, that's true. I seriosly think we should keep Rauch or Diaz up here if not both. I'd like to start them in the pen this season, and have them start later down the road. Just like we did with Mr. Buehrle. CWSOX45
