Did you guys know that 6 mill this year and six mill next year are deffered in rj's contract? the sox loooove deffered contracts... this could only help!

You're only about the 29th person to bring that up. And that may only be deferred if he remains with the Diamondbacks(may in that it is total speculation at this point).

Sorry.

wite.. from what I have heard you are correct. If he's traded the $$ becomes due. His remaining salary this year if traded will be approx $8 million.. next year $17 million. None deferred to the new team unless they negotiate.

George Offman is on the Score right now says the Sox are trying to trade for a catcher, says its not going to happen about Randy Johnson being in Chicago at all. .

Gregg Zaun from Toronto is quietly having a nice season. Batting over .300. Would have to give up nil for him probably.

I know I am just as shocked as you are Steff. Offman said only problem with the catcher position is the supposedly good ones are majorly over paid like Kendall, Javy, and Charles Johnson.

Pay them.

I'd love either of them on this team. CJ especially since he's been around and knows the ropes.

I think of those 3 I would take Javy. He's solid defensively and has some power. Kendall doesn't have much power and Johnson would be ok.

CJ has been playing terribly, offensively and defensively.

I just want a catcher that doesn't have to bat last in the order.

But he's got experience.

Much rather have kendall then javy. This team doesn't need more power they need a guy that can bat at the top of the order and can get on base. Javy is just another right handed slugger like the majority of the lineup already is.

I agree with you. I think if I had to choose between any player the Sox can get right now it would be Kendall. I like that he is only 30 and will be under contract until 2007 as well. I also like that he is a contact hitter with a high on base percentage and would make the perfect #2 hitter in our lineup. What I don't like is that he is a singles/doubles hitter that is getting paid 8 mill this year, 10 million next year, 11 million in 2006, and 13 million in 2007. That is a lot of dough for a singles/doubles hitter.

All that said, if we can find a way to afford him and justify his contract then I want him on this team.

Exactly why I would take Javy. He gets on base plenty but has some power to hit some much needed home runs as well. Kendall while is a good guy to get on base with all his singles and doubles but do you really want to pay that much for him?? Only if the Pirates will pay some of his contract would I want Kendall.

don't know if you guys know this, but some of the money in Johnson's contract is deferred

but is it still deferred if he gets traded????
