July 21, 200421 yr Joe Crede looks lost at the plate. His swing is too long and he just does not have a good approach. He needs to sit for a while. Put Uribe over there for a few with Willie at second because he is swinging the bat again. Also, Rowand should never leave center the rest of the season.
July 21, 200421 yr Uribe is hitting just as badly as Crede is, and doesn't bring anywhere near the defensive ability that Joe does. BTW welcome to Soxtalk
July 21, 200421 yr I'm not sure that Uribe's approach is much better than Crede's right now... Otherwise I'd give it a shot.
July 21, 200421 yr Everyone seems to be jumping on this idea, but i don't see it. Uribe is as bad as Crede right now...so all you are going to do is lose some great defensive plays. If Uribe somehow rediscovers his non pop out swing, i'd give it a try. But right now it's a pick your poison type of thing.
July 21, 200421 yr i agree; keep crede out there. i like uribe, but i can't honestly see how he's ever had any success in the bigs with that swing. i mean he almost falls down every time he swings. i don't know much about the mechanics of swinging or whatever, but it seems a lot more likely to me that crede'll be able to adjust his relatively smooth approach at the plate than that uribe will. hawk and DJ talked about it some last night and basically said uribe'll be a streaky player throughout his career because of his, well, odd swing, and i'd tend to agree with 'em.
July 21, 200421 yr At the risk of repeating what everybody else is saying, I would keep Crede at 3B for the simple reason that his defense is very strong. He makes a great defensive play that keeps a run or two from scoring and that is like providing an RBI hit on offense. However, maybe a day or two on thebench sitting next to Greg Walker and getting some faterly butt kickin advice might not be a bad idea too.
July 21, 200421 yr Crede is the best option we have at 3rd base...which sucks for us!!! He has shown little, if any, improvement over the past 2-3 seasons...and continues to suck! Let's hope Josh Fields (this year's 1st round pick) can go throught the system FAST!!!
July 21, 200421 yr Someone mentioned it in another thread and I am starting to like it: Trade with D-Backs: Sox get Mayne and Hillenbrand Sox trade Crede and whatever else it takes to complete the deal. PLEASE GET RID OF DAVIS.

Put Uribe over there for a few with Willie at second because he is swinging the bat again. Also, Rowand should never leave center the rest of the season. This should have been done earlier in the season when Uribe was hot and Crede was the same as he is now - bad. I think consistent playing time for Harris at 2nd would have kept him in the leadoff position and allowed him to progress faster. Uribe took Harris' spot when he should have taken Crede's spot. Now Harris, Uribe and Crede are all in a funk. As for Crede's defense, those 2 pop flies in Oakland made me sick. :puke
July 21, 200421 yr Tony Batista from MTL. Batista is hitting about .240 too. I hate Batistas Defense. I saw him down here Ole a ball and it fell in his glove and his throws are horrible :puke

July 21, 200421 yr Crede will hit. With him playing solid d, and no other person to take his place, Crede won't sit.
