September 29, 200421 yr Author And... Omar Minaya has reportedly reached an agreement w/ the Mets: the link. They're demoting Duquette. Whether it's deserved or not, I'd be surprised if he accepts that.
September 29, 200421 yr And... Omar Minaya has reportedly reached an agreement w/ the Mets: the link. Minaya's first move should be to trade Duquette for a half case of PBR. That guy killed the Mets. Woo-hoo Victor Zambrano.

Need to be registered to read the article, but if Minaya is going to the Mets, that would be their 3rd GM change in 2 years.

I still don't think Duquette had the final say in that deal, sumthin tells me Fred Wilpon made him do that to try and keep them in the Wild Card Race, which shows you how bad of an owner he is.

September 29, 200421 yr Finally. I feel sorry for those players. Maybe now that franchise will be respectible again. It'll be interestin to see what happens with them in the off - season. They need a new GM now with Minaya leaving, and they could be MAJOR players in Free Agency.

Yeah if they get a ticket base of 20-25 K they could double to triple their payroll, espesially when you factor in advertising revenues, and the fact that they would get TV and radio money again, they really could make a splash.
September 29, 200421 yr An interesting sidebar to all of this is the bribing that MLB did to get Angelos to accept this. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/stor...yson&id=1888266
September 29, 200421 yr Washington Sentinals maybe? I would then demand them to wear Matrix like uniforms. lol
September 29, 200421 yr I should add this, I hoep and pray that they do not try and go after the Washington Senators name. let it die. Go another route. Be creative. They dont even need to have a name that reflects the city they play in.
September 29, 200421 yr I bet they buy the name back, like MLB bought Angelos. Everything old is new again, the whole RETRO craze and everything. Two teams have failed there, so let's see if the third time is the charm. My condolences to the 3,000 Expos fans.

September 29, 200421 yr Maybe this time they'll make it. Seems like Baltimore's complaints are at least real enough for MLB to sell their souls. I thought there were better markets. Maybe this was to keep the anti-trust exemptions in place.
