greg775
Any of you watching tonight's game between our Sox and the Royals have to admit Paulie is one, professional hitter. The guy is a fricking stud at the plate. Trading Paulie or Lee would be extremely foolish. I don't care who we get in return. Both those guys are studs. CWSOX45
I agree. I hope Kenny finds a way to keep both in a Sox uniform, and make the team better. CWSOX45

We trade either one of them we fill at least 2 holes maybe three.

Exactly, Pauly is a great hitter but we got a very solid replacement in Ross waiting in the wings next year, like qwerty said we could fill 2 or 3 holes and put Gload at first. Lee will get to that 100 RBI mark in the next game adn Paulie has 115. You don't trade that kind of production.

No offense but I don' t want the tradeoff of Paulie to Gload. I also have no confidence in KW to make a trade to fill 2-3 holes for Paulie. I'd rather see KW tinker and keep the big four of Lee, Paul, Maggs n Frank.

Ross Gload is a real good substitute and can be used in LF-RF-IB or DH, but he is not a candidate to be a regular starter. Especially to replace Konerko. DBAHO
Konerko's value will never be higher, especially considering he has 1 year left on his deal. If a Sexson or J.D Drew type of deal comes along, KW's gotta make that deal.

Chisoxfn
I've long said I'd rather see Frank go, too bad it ain't going to happen.
CWSGuy406
Can Carl Everett play first base? That would help this team out a lot - if he could even play average defense at first base. That way, we'd be able to trade Paully, and be confident that a platoon of Everett/Gload would be able to, at the very least, hit around .250 or so and be able to drive in some runs. It would also unclog our OF situation for next year.

Why, so we can have an inconsistant offense that chokes down the stretch again? --No, here is why I want us to tinker. If we keep the big four, it means our offense will be OK no matter what we do. If we keep our current starters, it means we have pitching that will keep us in the race. Now, we upgrade at ss, we let Burke catch most of the games, we make our normal moves trying to upgrade the bullpen (we should have resigned Gordon) and maybe add one starting pitcher or closer we could win it all. If we trade Paulie, Lee there is the chance we could SUCK. Why? Do you trust KW to make good trades???? He consistently overpays and can I remind you of ALOMAR and EVERETT? I would rather tinker with our 80-win team and see if lightning can strike and we finally win this s*** division. If we trade Lee and Paulie we COULD SUCK. I do not trust Ken Williams. rowandrules83
I can't see the sox moving paulie after the monster season he's having. But as much as I hate to admit it I think they need to move Lee to get some more pitching. I think the sox should then go after someone like Juan Pierre and move Rowand to left. those guys in the outfield and at the top of the order would be nice

Lee will be putting up maggs type numbers for the next several years at least. Konerko on the other hand will most likely never do better than this season and we have a replacement for him in gload. rowandrules83
thank u for that warm smiley welcome. We probably could get more for konerko, but i just can't see the sox trading him after his monster season, even though a big part of the reason is that the cell is a homer mill (28 of his 41 hrs hit at home). Teams would be more likely to take on lee's contract than paulie. Either way i think we need to trade one of them for pitching. Kenny says our top 4 of the rotation is set. But garland still hasnt taken it up a notch and contreras may or may not be 40 years old. We need some more small ball guys in the lineup, and trading lee/konerko can possibly open the door for that

Also contreras is no where near 40 on the high side 35 or 36.
rowandrules83
that was a joke. i know he's not that old. sorry, for some reason i thought lee was making a couple mil less that pk. honestly i think the sox would be fine trading either one of them. just as long as kenny doesn't do something stupid and trade rowand for todd ritchie i think they'll be okay. oh yea, and i think they need a closer too. I think they should get farnsworth and help him get a closer's mentality. his stuff is good, the kid's just a headcase

rowandrules83
as much as i hate to admit it, no. it's hard to argue that he doesnt have very good stuff. and i think if, and that's a big if, he can get his head on straight he can be a good closer. obviously in a best-case scenario the sox would get a guy like benitez and have shingo and damaso as the setup men. but i just dont know how realistic that is. just no closers named latroy

Nothing special to me.
rowandrules83
well then who do you suggest they sign for the bullpen? i love shingo, but i kinda get the feeling that the league was figuring him out. His numbers will show that. I don't know if he can make it through next season as the reliable closer he's been.
Chisoxfn
I'd rather deal PK for a few reasons. His road ops and splits plain old suck and secondly I think Gload is a more then capable first baseman. I don't like the idea of the potential in house replacements if they deal Lee. Sure, you can say tehy will sign Beltran but until that happens then I would rather deal Konerko. All that said I'd dump Thomas because I am more then happy with Konerko/Lee and neither of them are the health liability that Thomas is.
