Brewers declined option for Craig Counsell

Featured Replies

Just saw on ESPN2 that Counsell won't be back in Milwaukee next year. Might not be a bad pickup for next year, not as a starter, but could be another good lefty bat off the bench.

yeah, I had mentioned this already in Chisoxfn's recent lineup blog. He is definitely a great option and a "so-called" Ozzie grinder.

He would be a great pickup if the price was right. Plus, we would get to look at his goofy-ass stance all season long. :D My type of guy all the way...I don't know if he's Kenny's type though.

f*** NO... He's Timo Perez for the infield.

500,000 times better than Robbie Alomar.

He's on of those kinda lucky guys, 2 World Series rings. He's a decent player, not horrible but not that good either.

Grinder.

Hey, we need more winners cheat.

I think the Sox infield is fine with the addition of a shortstop. We have guys like Burke and Hankins who are capable of playing other infield positions plus Uribe and Valdez and of course Gload.

Expect one starting infielder to be brought in, specifically a shortstop, although it could very well be a 2nd baseman.

Well, Counsell and his .645 OPS have no business starting in MLB. He was the SS with the lowest OPS in the majors this year. He even struck out 88 times in 450+ AB. I definitely don't want to see him on the Sox this year.

If he was released by the Brewers...something obviously is wrong...

 Thats hilarious! We have White Sox fans looking down at the Brewers. Priceless.

Butter, are you warped enough to believe they are better then us?

nope, but why should we look down upon them. How much better are we? I always find it funny when non-playoff teams all of a sudden become cocky.

I wouldn't even consider them a baseball team.

I wouldn't even consider them a baseball team.

....

I would. Lot's of young talent up there, regardless of how s***ty their ownership is...

EDIT: And it would help if you actually explained why you wouldn't, rather than just the typical one liners...

Oh i do believe it is their management that doesn't make them worthy of being a baseball team, it is utterly ridiculous. Cheats summary of the brewers is perfect. Also my ''one liners'' either get the point across, stats a fact or is asking a question.

''Don't get me started on the f***ing Brewers... They are not a baseball team.. They are a state supported business...Yes state supported. They benefit the most of any single team from the joke of a revenue sharing program the MLB has instated. The Selig's have put no money into that team ever since getting the new stadium built (which cost a few lives on top of taxpayer $$$) -- Now that the sale of the franchise appears to be going down, the Selig's are looking to turn a HUUUUGE profit despite never even attempting to put a competitive team on the field. And most of that profit is off of the blood, sweat, tears, and lives of the people who built that new stadium.

You can not believe a single word you hear from within the Brewers organization, especially when they say they have intentions of increasing payroll. The new owners will take more that 6 months to take over, and by then the payroll for next season will already be determined. Look for the Seligs to ship out Kolb, as he is in his final year of arbitration before Free Agency, and install someone cheaper. Profits baby, profits.''
