November 24, 200421 yr Not too bad. For Damien Miller. 3 year deal for a 35 yr. old catcher, interesting.
November 24, 200421 yr Considering he was looking for 5 million earlier on in the FA period, this is not a bad deal at all for the Brewers.
November 24, 200421 yr he's from wisconsin. the brewers pulled out all the stops including a personal visit to his home.
November 24, 200421 yr he's from wisconsin. the brewers pulled out all the stops including a personal visit to his home. I'm very happy they landed him, it's a risk but Miller is a solid citizen and the fans in Milwaukee deserve a competitive team. They are good fans up there.
November 24, 200421 yr I wouldn't have offered that deal, but I'm not surprised someone did. I had Matheny pegged as returning to the Crew, so it will be interesting how the rest of the catcher market flows as one of the cheaper alternatives for varitek has left the market.
November 24, 200421 yr Author For Damien Miller. 3 year deal for a 35 yr. old catcher, interesting. The third year is an option at 3.75 if thye don't take it they owe him 2.5 I think its a good deal.
November 24, 200421 yr Just to add to this thread, Twins signed Juan Castro for 2 years. So much for hearing JOSE, JOSE, JOSE in the metrodome...
November 24, 200421 yr I'm just glad we didn't get him. I want Kendall---and I want him bad. I'm with you Beastly. I want Kendall more then anything.
November 24, 200421 yr from what ive read, kendall isnt even a possibility ie: wants to go to a west coast team
November 24, 200421 yr So much for hearing JOSE, JOSE, JOSE in the metrodome... Why, castro is definitely not the twins answer to short or dh.
November 24, 200421 yr Why, castro is definitely not the twins answer to short or dh. Castro is a terribly perplexing signing... He has a career OPS of .600. for a combined OPS+ of 57. He's sure-handed, but has poor range. The twins already have a plethora of mediocre middle infielders. (Bartlett, Cuddyer, Rivas, Punto, Ojeda) Oh and they are going to be giving him $1M for the next TWO seasons. Why????

He has incriminating photos of GM Terry Ryan perhaps?
November 24, 200421 yr He has incriminating photos of GM Terry Ryan perhaps? must have... I'll give Ryan a pass until his next poor signing. But why pay for a poor-hitting infielder when you have 3 who haven't reached arbitration yet?
November 24, 200421 yr must have... I'll give Ryan a pass until his next poor signing. But why pay for a poor-hitting infielder when you have 3 who haven't reached arbitration yet? I was not say he is good at all. You must have misread it because i was asking him why they cannot still sign valentin since castro is not exactly gonna fill their short stop hole. I meant that there is still a good chance they sign valentin.

I meant that there is still a good chance they sign valentin. I didn't misread.. I'm just giving Ryan a pass onthis one.. He's won 3 AL central titles in the last three years. I.... Haven't. He must know more than me.

Alright, i understand now. I thought you were asking me why i said what i said. I was just confusing myself when it was not all that hard to get. Sorry about that.
November 24, 200421 yr Melvin with another great move. This guy will have this team turned completely around in the next couple years.
