You're right about the argument, yet you can't comprehend post. :rolly

I'll break it down for you;

Who has more MLB experience; Polanco, or one of these two guys you suggested?

For the record, I'm not one of these posters obsessed with Polanco, I'm obsessed with trading for Randy Johnson. ;)

Good point with MLB experince

I'm sure the Yankees are thinking to themselves we should have not gone after Matsui in 03 I mean there were so many other OF out there with Major league expereince, we should go after them! :rolly

This is stupid. Seriously guys, while Anthrax may be annoying (sorry to say buddy, but yeah), people jump on him everytime. He simply brought up a player he thought may be a person we could look at. I am sure none of us are firmiliar with the guy or his game. I am tired of all the bickering on this site. Its too much. Basically every thread goes back to Polanco and Cabrera etc. Its old.

I hate to disagree, but Jason Kendall would have been a great fit on the Sox.

Experienced catcher, leadoff hitter....I'd have liked that a lot.

The Sox need another starter, I'm just not sold on the idea of what it would take player-wise and money-wise to give to a 41 or 42 year old pitcher. I've seen every side of the argument on the board already, so there's no need to rehash that for me - I'd rather they throw cash at someone a little younger, that's all.

Polanco and Cabrera both do little to excite me - either would be a solid pickup, neither would make me want to buy more game tickets.

EDITED TO ADD that I don't know enough about the Japanese kid to form an opinion, except to say that .275 in Japan doesn't really thrill me.

Critic, what I meant by the Kendall comment is, we were going to "overpay" for Kendall. They didn't want what we had.

I would have loved Kendall on this team as well, just not for what we would have had to give up to get him.

RJ.. I agree with you 100%

Polcano/Cabrera.. I can see your point, but I just take look at players once they left Montreal and exceled. something OC should do.

Oh OK, I gotcha now - I took it to mean that you thought Kendall wasn't a good fit.

And you could very well be right about Cabrera - he did settle in nicely with the Red sox after a shaky beginning.

Daisuke Matsuzaka

Thats the name I mentioned in an article I wrote this past summer after talking with Bryant Nelson of the Knights. He said this guy was the next guy whom would be capable of coming over and having an Ichiro like effect. Said he was absolutely filthy.

Only 24 and plays for one of the best teams in Japan.

ESPN.com just did a report on this guy. If any of you are interested...

Willie Harris CAN lead off for us

man you people need to learn that some things take time and learning, insted of trying to overpay for someone..

Harris can do it, you gotta let the kid learn and grow.. he will be a better player this year

I agree with you. I still have faith in Willie Harris. Each year his numbers have gone up, so I don't understand why everyone is all down on him. I don't see the point of going out and signing an unproven guy that will cost us money when we're not even close to being a contender for the playoffs. Like I've said in the past, we need another starter before anything, then worry about the lead-off position

Please so me numbers of players that excelled once they left montreal. I am about a sample size of fifty or so games.

I'm also interested in that, too... Shouldn't a player excel regardless of where he plays, ala Vlad Guerrero? If a player is 'that' good, he should excel regardless of what situation he's in...

Back to the article, no on Nishi, but Iguchi looks real interesting... Above average defense (which would probably translate to just average on natural grass), but what intrigues me most are his SB numbers, and his OBP (.438). He's definitely a guy I'd look at...

I agree with Man of Steel.

Willie needs to be the starting 2B. We couldn't find anyone better defensively if we tried and he is still improving offensively.

I would perfer if he was the #9 hitter though with AROW leading off.

CF- Rowand

SS- Uribe

DH- Thomas

LF- Lee

1B- Konerko

RF- Everett

3B- Crede

C- Davis/Burke

2B- Harris

Pretty solid lineup from top to bottom.

Problem is while rowand did well in the lead-off spot last year do not expect him to do as well as last year. I am not saying he is gonna suck but i just doubt he keeps that average. He is more a 5-6 hitter on this team and could possibly hit third for several teams in baseball.

The Cubs motto is what till next year not the SOX

Harris, had his chance and proved he can't hack it.

No im pretty sure I know what team im rooting for...

Yes and why can't every OF in SF play like Bonds?

Or Why can't every 1b Play like Frank Thomas in the 90's

That is a stupid arguement, Vladdy is a freak.. Thats like Comparing Why couldn't Mike Carusso(sp) hit like A-rod :rolly
