November 30, 200421 yr I agree with you, up to a point. I think they will wait until the winter meetings...if nothing happens, the flood gates will open anyway. Teams won't be able or are afraid to wait too long. A team like St. Louis who sniffed a World Championship will rush to sign or trade for someone if the RJ thing takes too long. I still think he will go to the Cards, but teams can't wait forever.

November 30, 200421 yr SO back to the topic at hand.. 5 years at 9 mil .. lets get it done first day of Winter Meetings. No way should we give that to a shortstop when we already have a great defensive infield in Uribe and Harris. We can sign a bullpen arm and a SP for that.
November 30, 200421 yr Thanks I need a good laugh. I'm sorry but did you watch a single Sox game when Uribe was at SS and Harris was at 2B. They were getting to balls I had never seen anyone make it to and turning double play after double play. NOT TO MENTION THEY COST ABOUT 1 MIL COMBINED! I mean why in the hell wouldn't you want to utilize that. I'd rather have an outfielder to lead off and let Willie grow at 2B.
November 30, 200421 yr Jeckle, your avatar sums up dealings with Anthrax. And I agree...Uribe and Harris are young, cheap, and improving. If we can't deal for another established infielder, I would be happy with those two starting.

Harris probably isn't as good as Castillo, but I think if they had another season of work together they would be the best tandem, no doubt.

November 30, 200421 yr Montreal DID have a great, great MIF with Cabrrea and Vidro, but obviously no more. Willie and Uribe are both super solid with the glove. Cabrera and vidro combined for a -15 FRAA Castillo and Gonzo combined for 5 FRAA Uribe and Harris combined for 25 FRAA

November 30, 200421 yr i liked the vina/renteria....and the alomar/vizquel tandems. I don't think there are any out there that come close to those defensive duos up the middle.
