December 14, 200421 yr This is even uglier then I would have anticpated Forget it. The owners are trying to break the union. When you read this, there is NO DOUBT in that. See you in January, 2006, with "scabs".
December 14, 200421 yr what is this nhl? the no hooker league? i didnt know hookers had owners, and a union
December 14, 200421 yr Any truth to the rumor that Cheli and Roenick were going to suit up for the Wolves if the season got canceled for good? I don't even remember where I heard it originally.
December 14, 200421 yr Any truth to the rumor that Cheli and Roenick were going to suit up for the Wolves if the season got canceled for good? I don't even remember where I heard it originally. Cheli has been saying he would once the NHL kills the season.
December 14, 200421 yr As much as I would love the chance to see the Canes play, I would prefer not to see NHLers on the ice when I go to an AHL game.
December 16, 200421 yr This is exhibit A when it comes to greed destroying something really good. I really think that these are the end times for the NHL. It was losing interest to begin with but now nobody really gives a damn anymore. If and when it does come back with scabs nobody will go.
December 16, 200421 yr Cheli has been saying he would once the NHL kills the season. It went as far to say he's even agreed to a contract and will sign it the day the season is cancelled.
December 16, 200421 yr FWIW, for those of you who do care... When the NHL does resume play (be it next year, five years from now), there will be a shootout to decide OT games. I assume the point will still be given out for getting into OT, but, just something to note. And, I hate the idea. It basically means that the team with the most individual talent will win the game that goes to the shootout, even if the other team played an excellent defensive game and didn't have the scoring that night. It takes the team aspect out of the game, and while the casual fan might love the idea, I'm sure it's going to piss off a lot of the more loyal fans who really love the game. For those following who don't really like hockey but sometimes watch, it's basically like ending a basketball game that has gone to OT, and has to go to a second OT, by a dunk contest. It may be flashy and fun to watch, but definitely not how a hockey game should end... For anyone who's attended AHL games this season, have you attended a game that went into OT? How was it? I won't deny the excitement aspect of it, I just don't think that's the right way to extend the hockey game.
December 16, 200421 yr Being a fan of ECHL, I watched a number of shoot outs. They are actually a blast. The Cyclones were no offensive juggernaut, but damned if they didn't win a majority of the shoot outs I hear/saw them participate.
December 16, 200421 yr So how many months before NHL franchises start joining the AHL or OHL? Something tells me that within a year, the NHL is done.
December 16, 200421 yr I don't mind the shootout to decide the second point. If teams can't decide the outcome in 65 minutes of play, then I don't really care if individual talent decides one point. Been to a few shootouts at Wolves games, and it's fun.
December 16, 200421 yr Not a hockey guy, Never have been, never will be...that said, I think its an absolute travesty what they are doing do the league right now. How do you destroy an already dwindling fan-base...bingo! Sorry everyone, I hope you get your hockey back in the near future. Go Wolves.
December 16, 200421 yr First wrong move by Dips*** Bettman was trying to market the NHL as if it was the NBA. Second wrong move by Dips*** Bettman was pushing expansion and relocation into areas that couldn't f***ing care less about hockey. Third wrong move by Dips*** Bettman was trying to roll back his own mistakes by forcing a salary cap on the players to prevent the owners from their own stupid salary structure. The players don't pay themselves, someone has to agree to the ridiculous numbers. This season is dead. Worry about next season. If next season dies, worry about the future of the NHL as a league.
