December 21, 200421 yr how could you call the offseason uneventful, its not over, and nobody saw the trade coming with Carlos to the brewers. Cry all you want, but there are still moves to be made, and he is not going to make his intentions public. If he did, someone on this board would have forseen the bullpen moves that were made (and they made us tons better) and spod coming. Midol for everyone!! No baseball mind could have conjured up a trade scenario in which Lee is swapped for Podsednick/Vizcaino; leaving 6 million to spend. These transcations in which money is the key are impossible to predict. At this point, money is available for Williams to spend, and I wouldn't expect a mystery trade. If so, we're giving up an abundance of talent in return. I should elaborate, because my initial post has already been quoted, that Williams will likely spend some of the 6 million. My concern is whether he properly addresses our starting pitching dilemma; opposed to signing Schoeneweis as a 5th starter. Which appeared to be the case if he had been tendered.
December 21, 200421 yr opposed to signing Schoeneweis as a 5th starter. Which appeared to be the case if he had been tendered. I'm very happy this didn't happen. Can you imagine the complaining on this board if Schoeneweis was penciled in as the 5th starter? They can do better than Schoeneweis and I highly suspect they will.

December 21, 200421 yr I'm not so sure, Schoe>Grilli I'm going to have to agree with you there... Not that Schoe was my ideal option to be the 5th starter, if KW doesn't make another move there I would rather see Schoe as the 5th starter over Grilli
December 21, 200421 yr 43 hrs in 2004 --- 6-9-11 hrs monthly in June/July August, and a 1-3 record in September. He isn't worth the money. I vote to "pass".
December 21, 200421 yr I looked up JV's numbers (if and when that BS ever happens) and surprisingly they are not that good. His K/9 is nice but he also has given up more than 23 HR's each of the last 4 seasons (I think 32 last year and 28 the year before). Add that to a marinal win percentage and he also may not be worth the money. Don't get me wrong, I'd welcome him with open arms, but I don't have that same warm fuzzy fealing after reveiwing his numbers.
December 21, 200421 yr Do the Sox have interest in Milton at $6 mill? Yes. At $9 mill which is closer to what he'll likely get? Hell no. How the hell is he going to get $9 mill, when Clement got 8? Clement at $8 was a steal in this market, sad to say.
December 21, 200421 yr If we cant afford Milton how do we afford Lowe/Millwood/Perez. Does Kenny believe these guys are cheaper.
