January 13, 200521 yr So what are the predictions for Barry Bonds in "05? 20 HRs, 70 RBI's? Maybe 2 or 3 doubles?
January 13, 200521 yr QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 12:34 AM) I don't know, but all of a sudden, is Bonds too old to break Aaron's record? We can only hope, or .
January 13, 200521 yr I likED Bonds.....now I can't stand the fact that he holds the record of hrs in a season and the possibility of having the record of hrs in a career. Barry Bonds :finger :headshake Hank Aaron
January 13, 200521 yr QUOTE(Tannerfan @ Jan 13, 2005 -> 12:32 AM) So what are the predictions for Barry Bonds in "05? 20 HRs, 70 RBI's? Maybe 2 or 3 doubles? Huh? I see him having another season like the last few. He no longer needs the roids, he has the best eye in baseball and that goes a very long way.
January 13, 200521 yr I think he has another 200 walks, 40 bombs. I don't believe he was on steroids in 04 and he looked mighty good. I imagine (maybe only in ST) that a couple of pitchers might try to challenge him just to see what's there.
January 13, 200521 yr Whose to say they'd even detect these things if they are looking heavily for them. From the way it sounded the stuff he was using at Balco was 99.9% undetectable. You'd basically have to know exactly what you were looking for to find it. Regardless I'm like qwerty and think he'll have another huge year, unless he gets hurt or something.
January 13, 200521 yr I think I remember reading that he doesn't start swinging at the ball until it's like 20 feet from the plate, which means he has much more time to decide whether he's going to swing or not. The guy is unbelievable..even though I can't stand him.
January 13, 200521 yr The effect the steroid policy will have depends on the details. If a guy can get caught 2 or 3 times before they 'out' him, he could juice up for the last 2 years in his career and not worry about it leaking.

I would imagine a "mysterious" 10 game suspension would 'out' him.

If I read it right, it is "upto" 10 games. I don't know what the minimum punishment is for a first time offense. That is another reason why the NFL has it right. All offenses are judged equally. There are no exceptions or wiggle room.

January 13, 200521 yr I haven't read the details, but 10 games might be for a 3rd offense. What happens after the 1st or 2nd offense? It might take 2 years to be tested 3 times. January 13, 200521 yr Parasite or some strange injury that raises steroid issue again. Maybe 60 or 70 games.
January 13, 200521 yr This has nothing to do with the topic but it made me think Who is the Sox player rep right now? The last time I remember hearing anything from a rep it was Kelly Wunsch.

The owners have to figure out a way to break the union to solve their problems.
January 13, 200521 yr steroids or no steriods bonds will still be the best in the game next, however it will be interesting to see how many guys get caught and who will fall off
