Pablo Ozuna?

Featured Replies

KW spoke about him during the town hall meeting on Sunday? He said he is someone to watch out for? Anybody know anything about him.

I actually remember him playing for the Peoria Chiefs back in 98....he was really good...i went to a couple games...not bad, but Peoria is single a ball...and then it was part of the Cardinals orginization...now Peoria is part of the Cubs Orginization.

He was a prospect, then he aged roughly four years in one day. He isn't a prospect.

Is playing the Outfield now. Is he with a Sox farmteam?

The mentioned him as possibility for 25th man as a SS back up.

I don't want to sound gay or anything but, I think Unicorns are kick-ass!

I presume they signed this guy to a minor league deal then?

Hadn't heard anything about it.

Edit: Does anyone know if he can play other positions besides SS? Looks like he can steal some bases, a plus.

Minor League Free Agent is what they indicated.

Good, thanks Mike. Seeing as they haven't officially announced the minor league invites yet, that's probably why we're in the dark on this one.

Ozzie mentioned the backup infielder had to be able to play some SS to backup Uribe. So I guess that would mean if we signed Iguchi, Harris would probably be dealt, since I don't know if he's out of options to go back down to Charlotte or not. Still I don't see what Ozuna would have over Wilson Valdez who despite his OBP shortcomings when it comes to walks, hit over .300 at Alberquque and Charlotte.

Pablo put up some very respectable stats last year in AAA...

472 AB .307 AVE 6 HR 76 RBI 31 SB 12 CS 22BB/43K .759 OPS

Plus, he's "26" years old...

And he has had some short lived success at the major league level with Florida...

I'll take him over Valdez...

That would explain the connection, especially with Ozzie. If he gets a minor league invite, Valdez and Ozuna can have a spring training competition to see who becomes the backup SS, while the other goes back down to Charlotte.
