Chris Webber traded to the 76ers

Featured Replies

Chris Webber, Matt Barnes and Michael Bradley for Brian Skinner, Corliss Williamson and Kenny Thomas.

Really?

I hope this means better numbers for Peja, Miller, and Bibby for my various fantasy teams...

:P

Just saw that on SC also. Great move for Philly, we'll see how it turns out for the Kings. They knew they didn't have that great of a shot at winning the West this year. Maybe they can pick up some other players next year.

Holy s***. This has to mean Cutino Mobley's fantasy stock would be taking off (yippee).

Good move by the Sixers, imo. Assuming him and AI can share the ball enough. Kenny Thomas isn't a bad player for the Kings either, good toughness.

:o

Starting Squad:

PG: Allen Iverson

SG: Aaron McKie

SF: Andre Iguodala

PF: Chris Webber

C: Samuel Dalembert

I'm intrigued. But then again, I've been intrigued all along by the 2004/2005 76ers. I've been waiting for some results.

This should put them over the top as far as their division is concerned.

Blah, this makes me angry, all the sudden that 6th spot doesn't look so great anymore.

Very true. Philly should win that division by a few games now.

This is a great trade for the 76er's. What were the Kings thinking?

I hope people do not laugh when i say they are now capable of making the finals. At the very least pretty far in the playoffs. This is what they have been dying to get. An inside scorer and they got one of the best in the business.

The 76's apparently are serious about getting iverson a ring.

Dalembert is a good interior defender, Iverson is as good as anyone when it comes to jumping the pass lane and picking up the steal and while McKie is older and slower, he's still a good defender while Iguodala is already good and will be one of the best in the league as he continues to develop.

Webber is a great passer and scorer and isn't horrid defensively so I think Philly has really improved there chances. The East could be wide open if Shaq is seriously hurt.

Bulls are playing solid, Cavs look real good and Silas teams do good down the stretch usually and then you have the Pacers who I think will awaken soon enough plus the Pistons (they'll be strong again).

I'm guessing Kings are better salary wise or something in the long run? However, I also think the big thing is the Kings get some toughness in Kenny Thomas and maybe create more shots for there other guys.

I think Webber was sick of Sac and it may be a good thing for them to be rid of him, but its definately the Sixers gain.

Well the kings will be saving about five to six million per year for about the next three years. The kings got stuck with three prety nasty contracts for the amount of talent they got back.

Look for peja to asplode. Like the type of numbers he put up last year.

Sweet...I'm happy to see AI finally get a player closer to his level to play with. I'm rooting for Philly to take that horrendous division.

Honestly, how horrible is this for the kings. Thomas and williamson have contracts through about 2030. Also, bradley was in the christie trade, it will need to be some other s***ty player.

Ya, I was just looking and they aren't getting ending contracts in return. This is a pretty bad deal. This is kind of like when the Bulls got AD, and JYD two ugly contracts in my books (mainly JYD's which was god awful).

The Kings better be able to package some of there contracts elsewhere.

There won't be a ring this year. Sure, in the East they'll be able to go far, but I still don't see the West losing to a team like that.

Doesn't make much sense to me. Kings got rid of a talented player with a bad contract in return for less talented players with bad contracts of their own. Thomas' contract doesn't run out until 09-10 I believe and Williamson after 06-07 season. Yikes.

This is what a guy on bbb said.

They are saying on KHTK that it will be easier to move Thomas and Willaimson than it would be to move Webber. (in the future)

While jyd's contract is a s*** load longer, davis's salary hurt us this year and all of next year. I think they both blow evenly.

And Williamson (although a long time king a while back) is not the type of player the Kings need. All offense, no defense.

One of Paxson's best moves has to be moving JYD's contract and Jamal for Othella and I hope the Bulls keep Othella for a while. Seems like a very valuable role player.

And this is coming from the guy who hated him a month ago.

I forgot about him being a King. I guess it's a homecoming event for him in a way.

Any chance the Sixers could trade Webber on to the Knicks now for a package of players possibly? I'd extremely doubt it, but Webber loves New York and they love him too.

Why would Philly do anything like that. They don't want to help out New York and New York really doesn't have anything to offer. I'm sure Isiah wouldn't mind adding yet another big contract guy, but Philly isn't gonna be doing anything.

Looks to me like they are built to make a run to the finals. Good defense and two very good offensive weapons (AI/Webber).

I just don't know if Webber is going to fit long - term with Jim O'Brien. Ideally he wants 4 great outside shooters and 1 guy to clog the middle. He hated Kenny Thomas with a passion, and it could be like Walker and Pierce all over again (those 2 clogging up shots), but I guess O' Bie made it work pretty good there.

Well, this ain't your pappy's West. :D

The Spurs, the Suns, and that's it. No other team is a championship contender.

The Mavericks might look good on paper, but they'd have a rough time with these 76ers in a 7 game series. Flip a coin.

And of course, if we're talking Eastern Conference representatives, the Pistons should smash anybody with the exception of the Spurs. That's the only team that I can see knocking them off. You'd have to think that the Suns would be completely drained by the time the Western Conference Finals roll around, if they even make it that far.
