Diaz however has a very very very very straight slow fastball.  He doesnt really project as someone that can become electric out of the pen.

His numbers out of the pen last year say otherwise. Even though it was a pretty small sample size.

Mike Jackson and Billy Koch looked pretty good in about the same sample size.

His confidence is the problem. In Diaz's case its a new analogy(a 75$ arm and a 10cent head)

Widger is my hero. He hits a single that knocks in one run and makes in first and third one out.

Diaz pitched 16.2 innings as a reliever last season. He could have just managed to get by without getting rocked for that amount of time, even with his crappy no speed/no movement fastball. Getting by for 16.2 innings didn't suddenly make Diaz's fastball any better.

3-0 Sox

Umm... Diaz has a no hitter going...

How did the second and third runs score?

I did say it was a small sample size. But i do believe if he is gonna succeed it's not gonna be as a starter it will be as a reliever.

According to the box score, the Sox are winning 3-0. Anyone know how we scored 3 runs?

3-0 Sox

Against the worst lineup in baseball. Sergio Mitre of the Flubs even made the Royals look silly yesterday. ;)

Agreed. The less innings for Diaz, the better.

You're all a strange group of fans. You seem to delight in trashing ChiSox players. I maybe the only fan left who still has hope in Borchy but you guys have all but flushed the toilet on him.

Go Joe!

3-2 Sox after 4

Rowand gets hit by pitch then konerko hits a ball in the hole to short but they barely get rowand at second ( he was safe, honestly). Then another single to make it first and second one out for timo. Yaya.

Timo flies out to center. No tag since it was konerko at second. Two outs for my hero widger.

Joe B is going to be just fine. I have faith in him. I see people give up on players all the time. A lot of people wanted clee gone in 2002 (because of his dfense) , a lot of people lost hope in Paulie in 2003, people wanted arow gone in 2003. I say joe is definately showing signs of improvement. Id like to hold on to him still.

No, we just realize that he's a bust while you keep holding out hope. It's an exercise in futility. You always love to bring up stats. Why don't you bring up Joe's awesome career AVG and OBP?

I heard hawk refer iguchi as "guchi" , I guess "guchi" it is.

They have all shown they had it to make it at the major league level unlike borchard.

Joe's potential can not be measure by stats :P By the way it's only a sliver of hope ;)

If we trade borchard now we might not get much for him. If he continues to improve we can get more later or keep him. It does not hurt us to hang on to him. We already gave him that big bonus.

Joe has such great power that it's depressing that he can't make contact on a consistent basis. Maybe if he lost the "deer-in-the-headlights" look and opened his eyes when he's at bat, he could make more contact.
