sec159row2
censorship on the internet??? i don't get it... second time in a week a thread of mine was erased... after MB's scare on monday I started a thread titled 2006... it was and still is my opinion that if mark goes down the sox will finish at best third place.. but, instead of people addressing my opinion, albeit an overreaction because the situation wasn't fully known, my opinion is deleted.... ????? then I post a topic about a "festival" in the Ozarks with a link, I guess I should have warned about the link, but the forum I posted it in already warns readers.. "Tired of talking baseball? Not in the mood to hear about the Bears losing another game? Then come in here to talk about whatever the heck you want. From politics to carpet samples, this is the place for your non-sporting needs. But be sure to bring your thick skin" but your skin doesn't have to be that thick cause the aboz will censor it for you... if I am wrong mea culpa. but is censorship the way to go ???? mreye
QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Mar 23, 2005 -> 12:24 PM) I didnt see it, nor do I really care, but it must have been distasteful and unwanted. That's real cool to say. :rolly I saw the 2006 thread. I think it was locked (not deleted) because it was turning into an idiot fest. Not you, but the people commenting about your original post. I don't know what the other one is.

T R U
I made a post in a thread yesterday and a mod went ahead and EDITED what I wrote... that really pissed me off.. I would much rather have them delete my post than edit my words.. I have the freedom of speech like everyone else, delete my post.. but please dont edit my words.. Thats what got me
Queen Prawn
I editted it because you used a racial slur. That isn't tolerated here.

That isn't tolerated here. it was a racial slur if you took it that way, but refering to the previous post that was talking bout ghetto girls it went right along.. If the thread wasnt in a joking manner and I was just being hateful about it yeah I can see that but like I said, just delete my post.. I dont appreciate you editing what I said.. Texsox
All the forum mods suck Have a little compassion for the mods. They are volunteers trying to create a community. As far as restrictions on the Internet, of course different sites have different tolerance levels. We try for a PG13 to light R rating. We over step it sometimes and perhaps err too much on the other side but overall I think the volunteers have done a great job. One area we get into is common usage ion one age group isn't common usage and has a totally different meaning in another. Caution wins. AngelasDaddy0427
To be honest I think this place could use a little censorship. There are young teens on this site. I mean I don't want to come on here and look at porn, vulgar language, racial slurs, insults, etc. What makes this site great is that you can feel free to disagree without having to deal with personal attacks. Myself i'm glad that their are moderators here that care enough to work to keep this place civil.

You don't think 12,13,14,15, etc... have heard the word f***, dick, slut, asshat, tits, b****, or a dirty joke? You don't think most 12, 13, 14, and 15 year olds swear? Even if they do not do it in front of adults at that age i am willing to bet 99% of them do at least once in a while. I do agree that pr0n a racial slurs should not be allowed on here, which they are not. Pr0n is still awesome though. AngelasDaddy0427
Just because they go it on the playground doesn't mean we should have to put up with it here. I mean don't get me wrong I use language ocasionally myself. All i'm saying is theres no reason for every other word in your post to be vulgarity. Unless a post is wholy inflamatory, a mod will just edit out the single offending part. That is the way we have always handled these situations, and we will continue to operate in this manner. Both Aboz and QP did exactly what the mods and admins have decided as a group to do in these situations, and all of the admins/mods approve of this. Kid Gleason
Censorship? Hardly. This board, and most boards are owned by individuals. You are posting here free of charge because somebody loves something enough to give people a place to discuss it, and other like interest. YOU are in somebody else's house. If you came into my house, my actual house, and started doing anything against my house rules, I would throw you out or shut you up. Not to be rude, but that is basically what it boils down to. The owner of this site wants it to be a certain way, if you break the rules of his house, he/she has trusted other people to watch and maintain the place. In this day and age of the internet people seem to like to use the word "censorship", and it gets used wrongly all the time. If you send a letter into a magazine, it gets edited. It isn't "censorship", it is editing. That is what an editor is for. No author ever sees their first draft make it to publishing, and few writers ever do. The board is kind of the same way, these mods are just trying to follow the rules, and follow them the best that they can. If you don't like the "censorship" you will encounter on a board, get some money together, and start your own board. I hit another site all the time. A group of people decided to break away and start a site free of "censorship". Within a month it was the most heavily moderated site I have ever seen, and within 5 months it was a ghost town. You might not like the editing, but it is what helps keeping people coming back.
