4/18/05 Official Game Thread: Sox vs. Cakes

Featured Replies

A.J. has played just as bad as Dye has the last week. He's been terrible behind the plate and offensively.

Ah look, another game in which Ozzie is a batter too late in pulling the pitcher. Nothing new!

f*** the twins f*** the umps. and f*** u selig for not hiring people who just want to have a job and not want a f***ing ego like ur umps. there all fat.

Wow. Nothing like makin 'em earn it. :crying

This is a perfect example of a pitcher beating himself tonight.

A Balk.

Several walks.

A Wild pitch.

Fastballs down the middle.

He deserved to get beat tonight, plain and simple.

We are lucky it's not 7-1.

I don't think it's Ozzie fault that we had a balk, throw into center field and a wild pitch all right in a row.

One thing I've noticed about AJ is he very, very rarely has gone to the mound to settle our pitchers down. Bad luck tends to come on a roll, as a catcher you need to get out there and ice the offense.

Relax Kogs, our problems are our doing

It's nobody's fault but Jose's that we are down even with the offense taking the night off

could get ugly right here

I've NEVER seen a pitcher like Jose Contreras. Maybt eh most frustrating pitcher of my lifetime. Reall a Jekyl and Hide guy if there ever was one. He seems to lack ANY mental toughness

His pitcher's brains fell outa his earhole. Not Ozzie's fault. :chair

Hasn't it already been ugly enough?

Yes, but it was obvious after Hunter's AB that Contreras was physically and mentally out of the game. However, instead of bringing Cotts in to face the lefty Jones, Ozzie kept Jose in....and they got a very undeserved run because of it.

not the balk. but i love venting like that it makes me feel better

HOW THE f*** ARE WE SUPPOSED TO WIN A f***ING BASEBALL GAME WHEN WE DO STUPID s*** LIKE THIS.

HOW THE f*** DO WE WIN A BASEBALL GAME WHEN WE GIVE UP RUNS DOING STUPID s*** LIKE BALKING, WALKING AND THROWING THE BALL INTO CENTER FIELD!?!?!

Why dont we just forfeit the f***ing game and save the fans the misery of watching s*** like this unfold????

its games like today that show even if we end up winning 90 games...the twins will always win more. they just never let these things happen and it seems to happen to us every ga,e. hell we are getting shut down offensively every game.

AJ knows the Twins better than any catcher in the league. Contreras is out there shaking him off every other pitch. AJ should of gone out there multiple times and smacked him around.

Jose isn't worth the money he makes but we still have a chance in this game.

This is the interesting part of the night, where the game thread gets ugly.

I think we need to help a few people off the ledge

i'm stuck here listening to mlb.com radio / following on cbssportsline.

how ugly was it?

This has that bad feel to it that those rainy nights at the Jake have when we are down 8-0 and Hawk and DJ are in crisis mode. Funny thing is that its still 3-1, but you don't win games agains their bullpen

How did he balk? I couldn't see it in any of the replays...

The question I have for people is this: Did anyone really think Contreras was going to get out J. Jones that at-bat? If you had big doubts, then you have to pull the starter for a lefty reliever in that situation.
