April 19, 200520 yr QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 11:08 AM) when do we find out who it is? He will accept the nomination, say some words to the rest of the Cardinals, then he will go off on his own to pray and decide on his new name as Pope. Then they gather to introduce him as a group. Off topic a little apparently when Pope John Paul the first was asked if he accepted their nomination as Pope, he reportly told the rest of the Cardinals, "May God forgive you all for what you have done." April 19, 200520 yr QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 10:13 AM) I'm getting chills ... but I don't really understand why I am. On this sort of occasion, we put our differences aside and simply partake in the moment. It is one of those moments you always remember. Sept 11., JFK, John Lennon, sort of thing.
April 19, 200520 yr I guess you guys haven't seen EuroTrip. I am sure it is just a bunch of kids playing around with the popes hat and dancing around in his room

April 19, 200520 yr QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 04:20 PM) I say it's a surprise choice and he is under 65 years old. they said probably an older guy, so that he is not in for such a long time, but maybe a young guy, who knows.
April 19, 200520 yr Author QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 11:14 AM) On this sort of occasion, we put our differences aside and simply partake in the moment. It is one of those moments you always remember. Sept 11., JFK, John Lennon, sort of thing. I wouldn't say I have any "differences". I just don't have the emotional ties that Catholics have to this scenario. I suspect my reaction is due to the fact that JPII was such an exceptional pope, imho, that I am hoping this one can be half as good. It's like I'm hopefully anticipating that the new Pope can be a healer and a uniter in this world.
April 19, 200520 yr I can safely say it isn't an American. The only one is recent hsitory who was ever considered a possibility was Cardinal Joseph Bernadine.
April 19, 200520 yr QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 11:09 AM) I can't really describe what I feel right now. I'm not Catholic, but this is a MOMENT in history. I am Catholic (and actually started going to mass again) and I can't explain what I feel either!
