Scrubs vs Sox

From KFFL:

May 11 The Chicago Tribune reports Chicago Cubs P Glendon Rusch will start Friday, May 13 against the Washington Nationals instead of SP Carlos Zambrano, giving Zambrano an extra day of rest so he can pitch in the May 20-22 series against the Chicago White Sox.

:P

Both teams put way too much importance on the "City Series", in my opinion.

If anything, the Cubs should worry about aligning their rotation for Cardinals matchups.

Although I think aligning your rotation for a series two weeks away is goofy anyway. You most important game is the next one on the schedule.

Doesn't anyone know? The Cubs and their fans don't care at all about their series with the White Sox or about the White Sox at all. It is White Sox fans who have the fascination with the Cubs.

I seem to remember Manuel setting up his rotation like a month before the Cubs series as well. It seems like the team that is making a run at winning the division cares about it less. If your playing poorly, like they are right now, the only thing left to play for in your season is Cubs vs. Sox.

That's what they want you to believe but the truth is that they care about this series just as much as the sox fans do and the ones who don't are not true Cubs fans. My roommate, friends, coworkers all look forward to that series as much if not more than the Cards series and told me all about their City championship they got last year.

The Sun-Times said yesterday said we'll face, in order: Zambrano, Maddux and Prior.

Perfect set up for us to sweep their Cubby blue asses and demoralized all of Cubdumb for months.

I wouldn't care if the Cubs had to face the Count, the Duke, and Garland in that order.

OUr rotation is so good that we don't need to set it up for their series.

Right now we would put up Garcia, Contreras and El Duque.

So:

Fri - Garcia vs. Zambrano

Sat - Count vs. Maddux

Sun - Duque vs. Prior

I was really hoping for a Maddux vs. Duque matchup, that would be one hell of a game. But I like what we got.

I'm not as confident as I would have been with Rusch projected to start. But they've battled against tough pitchers this year.

If we beat Cubs 2/3 or sweep, atleast we're doing it against their best.

I will admit, I'm worried about them facing Prior. From the way he's been pitching this year, that's gonna be a tough one. If those matchups do remain the same, then I hope El Duque can match him pitch for pitch, 'cause I don't see the Sox scoring alot of runs in that matchup.

Duque will

He is a big game pitcher. He'll step up.

I hope the Cubs are weeping after the series, not us.

please use timo on friday just to piss off the cry baby zambrano. that was awesome last year by making the cry baby mad and felix diaz beating him :headbang

Best game i was ever at. God that was sweetness.

Getting in Zambrano's head is certainly teh key to throwing him off his game. Timo and Pods should both be able to do that on the bases this year.

To their defense, winning a series like this can help turn your season around. Losing a series like this can also ruin your season. It's happened before.

Also, us facing zambrano, maddux, prior, with count, duque, and garland going spells disaster.

I was in Wrigleyville on the 3rd of July in my Sox jersey at a party last year for that rained-shortened abomination. I hated that feeling at a mostly Cub party. Let's try to take 2 off them. I really htink they might have trouble against the Count though

I was at that game last year! Everytime it seemed like the Sox were getting some sort of momentum there came a rain delay. And because Wrigley Field is such a piece of s*** that it doesn't drain properly they called the game before the White Sox could mount a comeback against that oh so stellar Cubs' bullpen. f*** the Cubs!

Both teams have been pitching well, but head to head, I give the slight edge to them in this series. Neither team is exactly tearing the cover off of the ball either. I expect close, low scoring games decided by an error or the few pitching mistakes.

The Cubs pen will be the BIG difference in this series, I think... or at least I hope.
