From the very get go the success of the 2000 draft would hinge on the White Sox first round pick, Joe Borchard. The former Stanford Cardinal quarterback and outfielder received a record $5.3 million signing bonus. Immediately after signing, Borchard was compared with some of the all time greats...MORE

Note: Early tomorrow afternoon the article will include a minor notes section as well as a list of all the 2000 picks. I left that part of the article at work. The 2001 review will be put up on Wednesday (and its actually already done).

Good read.

Article has been updated with a list of all of the 2000 draft picks, including those that signed. If anyone notices an error in who signed please inform me and I'll correct the changes. I may of missed one or two players.

Gorzelanny always pops up in opposing box scores. If it's the same one.

I went to HS with John Lackaff from that year, and College as well. Good family friend and great guy. Its sad to see his career was cut short by injury. Great 3-point shooter though

Nice read. Especially for us "out-of-towners" who can't get the grit and gristle of what happens behind the White Sox scenes, articles like this help us to know more about the organization as a whole, from the minor league affiliates to the big league club.

Let me ask you something though, and I really hope you don't take offense to this because my intention is only to try to make it even better than it already is. Do you have an editor or proofreader? If not, I'd like to offer to do the editing and/or proofreading for your articles.

LMK what you think.

Go ahead, us FS guys have had to deal with him for a while. :)

On a side note, this is really before I started following the Sox minors, Jason, but didn't we sign Bounds?

Ya that would be fantastic. The group of us edits each other, but editing my work can sometimes be tough cause I'm not exactly brilliant with my choice of words, lol.

Would you like me to email you the articles? I have one right now I could shoot your way. I know it still needs some touch ups in terms of me adding content and filtering it though.

Hell yeah! I don't know why I liked him, but I just did even though he was always old for the level he played at. This is gonna sound bad from a guy that's supposed to know about our minors, but is Bounds in our system still? And if so, where? Sorry, I've been real busy w/ finishing up school and with lacrosse, so I haven't been following the minors much at all so far.

Anyway, I'm very glad to say that yesturday was my last day of school, so it's summer now!!!. :headbang

I edited this 2000 piece. What was wrong with it?

This article makes me wish we could give Joe B another shot, I KNOW(not think) we could get the same production from him that we do from Timo.

On a side note, great avatar dasox!!!

Good stuff, another interesting thing, atleast to me, about the drafts is that we drafted Gerron McGary two years in a row and I don't think we signed him either year.

Actually, we did sign McGary and he played for Great Falls last year.

Thats cool, I didn't remember his stats.

Anybody having trouble with futuresox.com? I can't pull it up.
