Why was Hernandez arguing with Don Cooper and Ozzie on the bench last night?

It seemed to be pretty heated.

Didn't see it, so I have no clue.

 

I'd be interested to know more though.

I'm guessing he wanted to stay in the game. Glad to see that he tried to communicate that through the proper channels.

Ok, I was hoping it was just that.

As much as Hernandez frustrates me with his slow game and how he has to always get out of jams, I loved his enthusiasm when he was on base yesterday. It was like he remembered what it was like to play complete baseball.

It looked like he was pissed they were taking him out but he had 102 pitches I believe but was also hitting a good groove...he is a bad ass competitor and wants the ball all the time.. you have to like that. Hopefully that attitude rubs off on everyone... El Duque will be huge when the Sox reach the post season.

Everytime I see shots of the dugout during the game, those guys look like they are having the greatest time with each other. Thats part of what I really love about this team.

Did anyone see MB throwing seeds at Raines in the dugout? Raines kept trying to duck them but MB was constantly tossing seeds at the back of his head and using AJ as protection.

Some random Raines related note does anyone else love when he starts running down the line before innings then turns it on right before 1st as if to beat the throw? Raines is awesome.

El Duque will be huge when the Sox reach the post season.

im sure hed rather be off the team than in middle relief, i dont see him sitting well with that, besides who would fill his shoes

he is a magnet for foul balls too. Hawk and DJ are always laughing at him ducking and falling out of the way.

If we make an extended post-season run, we're going to need El Duque for at least one start there.

He is the only first base coach I have ever seen do that. He has lost a lot of speed too cause those plays are always close, when he hits first he sticks his arms out indicating that he was safe on the play, the guy is always having fun.

Pods broke into the league at the age of 25 and has been up ever since.

So Tim Raines had a 6 year headstart on Pods.

Now one thing that Pods could do is break Tim Raines' career high in stolen bases which was 90. If he could accomplish that then he'd have something on Raines.

Oh yeah and Tim Raines had 808 career stolen bases.

Extra Innings stuck me with the Rox broadcasts for the whole series, so there was not that much focus on the Sox dugout. What they did manage to get though, was Freddie going to town and picking his nose - I mean really digging in there for something. I was sitting there quietly hoping he didn't pull one out and eat it on camera, and luckily they cut away before we had to find out.

Its possible, but being as consistant a base stealer as Raines was, is extremely hard to achieve in the league nowadays.

never thought about the DL part, i would have left him in, build his confidence, he was pitching pretty good in a hitters park

El Duque has enough confidence. In that situation you have to be worried about his health and keep him around 100 pitches. You don't want to risk reinjuring his shoulder.

well either way can be right, if i were ozzie and my pitcher who just came off the DL wants to throw id let him, but i can see why you wouldnt want him pitching longer

He is also a playoff pitcher. Honestly when it comes to a big game situation, we have no more proven pitcher than Hernandez... He is money when it counts.

i totally disagree. he will be a huge part of the sox in the postseason as a starter, which is the biggest reason they wanna keep him healthy the whole season. he has so much invaluable experience winning it all, nobody on the sox has as much experience as him. always helps to have a guy like him. he knows what it takes to win under pressure. the key is keeping him healthy.
