I figured that a lot of people, like me, will be flipping back and forth periodically between the Sox game and this game. I also expect that a lot of people will be watching Chris Young with a watchful eye, in all of his AB's.

 

There's also a lot of other guys who I want to get a look at -- pitchers Thomas Diamond and Yus Petit, and a bunch of the position players -- Encarnacion, Barton, Jackson, Morales, and Young, among others.

I will be at the Sox game so I'm gonna need detail of Young's () AB's.

Im watching the futures games. Ive decided not to watch Oakland games anymore. Until we have a winning season vs them. Also Ive been looking forward to this game for awhile... to me its >>>> all star game.

On a side note, El Duque and Marte are pitching here today but I'm too damn lazy to go out to the game. I believe B-Mac may pitch as well.

Definitely missing the Sox game as this is one of the better events of the summer to me. However, it does lack the "star power" of the last few years. At least we might get a longer look at Delmon Young and a few others than the last few years. Never seen Chris Young so that's kind of interesting. THis game has been hit a bit by call-ups and the fact that the world team is a bit less loaded than normal. Still, superb event.

I might tape this game while I'm watching the sox. I agree with you guys the futures game is the best allstar event by far, very fun to watch.

Anyone know the starting pitchers? I was guessing Verlander and either Volquez or Petit.

Flyout to Chris Young on 2nd play of game. Announcer talks about how he has good range on defense and mentioned some good comments from Razor Shines. Next batter, Kendry Morales, crushes one over Young's head. Slightly misjudged but he had no play anyway.

I remember being excited to watch Rickie Weeks for a month last year and then he came into the game late and popped up on the first pitch I believe. Oh well

Yeah i was really surprised how fast he is and how he ran out that pop up, if the fielder dropped it he would of made 2nd easily.

Was it Young or Fields who didn't run hard on a pop up and got a talk about it?? If it was Young that message got through to him cause I saw that play too and he was flying.

Young plays the game hard no matter what though. He's a really special player, imo. Your gonna keep hearing more and more about him too. Its just when he hits the ball the bat makes a different type of sound. He truly has a chance to be a special player.

 

Remember though, he also has some definate holes that could lead to him being a total bust. He's got a great attitude though and plays hard so I think the odds are in his favor.

That's great to hear about his attitude. It was real refreshing to see a player like Young not to take anything for granted on a little pop up. I loved seeing that.
