He was at less than 95 pitches, IIRC...

So if you're in the playoffs, you'd let Duque pitch into the 8th inning even if his pitch count is low? I would hope Ozzie has more faith in our bullpen than that.

That Anderson kid is awful. Send him down, he's not ready for the show!

We do this s*** ALL THE TIME! We look great in one or two innings, then we can't do anything at all. Damn.

He takes a third strike, like he belongs on this team.

He strikes out a lot.

The Count is not afraid to throw a strike tonight.

I notice something very different about Jose's approach on the mound tonight.

He's working at a Buerhle-esque pace. Pitching, heading right back to the rubber, usually waiting on the batter instead of the batter waiting on him. I've never seen him work this fast. Maybe it translates to him thinking less. Also that he's not shaking anything off. Batters have not much time to think at all.

That 3-2 pitch was a very important play in this game.

The fewers runners to reach, the quicker he'll work. He still seemed to take forever to pitch when someone got on base. I think the key to Contreras has been his ability to get ahead in the count with his fastball.

Good point. I'll have to see what happens if a runner actually reaches. I wasn't paying much attention the last time they had a baserunner.

You can say that again! :cheers

That was the fastest and hardest I've seen Iguchi run to first this season.

4-0

Well, as much as I don't like Carl's approach, I gotta love when that happens.

I never thought I'd see the day where I'd rather see Everett bat righty than lefty. His swing seems to be a lot shorter from that side of the plate.

I love Carl from the right!!!!

But he hits balls to the upper deck in BP

I was thinking the same thing. He always looks average at best, but he was flying.

I know, it's shocking...cause he used to seem so clueless from that side of the plate. Maybe he went back and watched video footage from the HR derby a few years ago when he batted righty, and gave Corky a run for his money.

Just worry about the batter Contreras.

And here's the implosion.

And just like that, Contreras is in trouble. Ozzie should get the bullpen up and running sooner than later.

And he can't throw strikes.

A Neal Cotts sighting.
