September call ups

Featured Replies

From the Southtown, so take it fwiw.

Guillen and Williams had their scheduled meeting Friday, discussing who will likely be called up Thursday when rosters can be expanded to 40 players.

Guillen hinted those bound for the big-league squad Thursday will likely include infielders Ross Gload and Willie Harris, outfielder Joe Borchard and reliever Jeff Bajenaru. Also likely to be called up is a third catcher, either Jamie Burke and Raul Casanova.

In a move unrelated to the expanded roster, rookie pitcher Brandon McCarthy will be called up to start in Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader at Texas, the skipper reiterated.

I guess finally we will get to see how good Baj really is?

Can't wait!

Adkins going down for Brandon?

Probably, but he won't physically leave the team. He may be recall immediately after BMac's start.

And with a nice lead, these guys should get some quality playing time.

Yeah, and they've got to keep it. No point in trotting out guys like Baj in the 8th in pressure situations with the game on the line, if say the gap has been wittled down to 3 or 4 games. Once we seal the division, or at least a playoff spot, then you get the guys in the pen and in the rotation ready for that October assault.

But just remember, if guy A comes up, 1st time he's ever been in the majors and pitches about 5 to 10 innigs and has an ERA above 6, that doesn't mean he's never going to make it.

We had better see Baj. After the year he has had, he deserves a chance

It's looking like he'll get his call up. I hope so.

They've decided to give McCarthy the start in Texas, huh?

Uh oh. We may be looking at another L.

They've got his number.

im bettin he gets about 1 inning before the sox clinch (If they clinch). after that he can pitch just about every inning of every game for all i care.

It's always exiting to see the young guys make their debuts. Good luck to them all.

He still has a much better chance of having a quality start than any of our other options in the minors.

Except there's not a single player we're likely to call up who hasn't played in the majors already.

I'll be happy to see Harris, Gload, Borchard, and Burke back up.

Do you think BMAC will get that start in Boston on 9/5?

Supposedly it will be El Duque.

I'm trying to find out, but I think Bmac may be making a start against the Rangers.

I thought that was confirmed yesterday.

I was thinking it was everything but official. But I wasn't around yesterday so maybe it was. I know there was a lot of speculation that he'd be brought up and it makes total sense.

My guess is Bmac will replace Crede (if Crede goes on the DL) or Adkins will be taken off the roster and than called back up on Sept 1st (I think this is the one exception where you can pretty much send a guy down and immediately call them back up).

It was in the tribune in the last day or so I thought.

I thought they would call up a few more, just to send some bodies to that make up game in Boston.
