I thought be listing Hermanson, Politte, and Jenks people would be smart enough to realize that Viz hasn't been able to have the same situations as Marte.

Have to give props to Marte for the previous series. Can't recall too many pitchers with an infinite WHIP and --- ERA.

4 games with starters going at least 8 innings, then bring in Jenks.

It's this simple: Marte adds a lot more potential value to this team than Viz in a 7 game series. Viz is only useful against a team with righties who struggle vs the slider. However, with Duque in the pen, that basically eliminates any of Viz's value. Even though Marte has been such an enigma, he still has a better chance than Viz and getting a big out against someone like G. Anderson or R. Cano. Ozzie just has to use Marte wisely. If the home plate ump has a small zone, Marte likely has no chance of getting 3 strikes over the plate.

Looking at the 3 game vs. 4. Whichever is the day game should go to Freddy "Lights Out" Garcia. I have no problem adjusting between the two to get Freddy a day game if possible.

I don't recall saying I wanted Viz as the lefty specialist.

 

You guys want Marte as the second lefty man because he is lefthanded.  I have shown you that there are 4 RHP better than Marte at getting lefties out.

 

What is Marte's use again? 

Vizcaino can eat up innings, that is the only time I expect to see him in the playoffs (like the Braves-Astros game on right now.)

 

Marte is completely worthless.

VS. RHP:

Marte: .817 OPS

Viz: .692 OPS

difference: .125

 

VS. LHP:

Marte: .767

Viz: .857

difference: .090

 

Overall OPS:

Marte: .791

Viz: .762

 

Viz > Marte

 

It's not like I want to see Viz pitch.  I rather see both of them not pitch, but I'm a 100% sure that if Marte is on the roster, Ozzie will use his s***ty ass because the batter is left handed.

Why not McCarthy instead of Viz??????

If our ALCS chances come down to Marte, I think we're f***ed anyways. Move on.

Exactly, I'm not worried about Viz because Ozzie likely won't use him in a big situation. But for whatever reason Ozzie has shown that he will use Marte in a big situation despite Marte not being able to get anyone out in the second half of the season.

That's just it. Everybody has an opinion, and none of them amount to a hill of beans unless your name is Ozzie Guillen, Kenny Williams or Don Cooper.

That's all YOUR opinion yet you think "we all can agree that Marte is better than Viz" despite the stats (i.e. FACTS) saying otherwise.

Ozzie does not look at stats? That is the only logical explanation there is.

 

I rememeber hearing someone on the radio a while who had done an interview with Ozzie. About halfway though the interview, someone came in and gave him stats or a scouting report or something liek that, he took it, the person walked out and he threw it in the TRASH!!!

Yep.

I don't think anybody has thought about this either but when Vizcaino's slider is on lefties can't hit him. Case in point 2003. Lefties hit .190 against him. I think i would rather risk Vizcaino's slider being on than Marte coming into a game.

Thats what I am wondering. However, who would be off this time if Mac is on? Its not Duke, and from what I have learned in this 8 pages is that Marte is still on...
