Cap Talk

Featured Replies

I reject the argument that a true long term Sox fan would only be wearing a ragged, sweated out, cap from 1980. I have half a dozen caps from pristine to the EPA better not find out about it. I am the same fan while wearing my current rally cap, the 1919 road grey, to my five year old, smell it before you see it, official game cap.

Let's not judge Sox fans by how s***ty the cap is. You see I have a dream . . .

I have a dream that my two little children will one day live in a city where they will not be judged by the condition of their Sox cap, but by the content of their character.

Since the cap subject has been brought up I have a disclosure to make.

My choice in caps cost us the game Tuesday. I'm sorry and very ashamed ashamed.

I grabbed a hat from the Sox cap collection, making sure it was not one I'd worn for any of the games of the ALDS - not repeating seemed to be working, so that's the mojo I went with. I grabbed a Red '72 era cap that was one of those Cell freebies with the ugly Miller Light patch on the side and put it on to watch the game. After the loss, I took the hat off and to my horror I realized that it had Josh Paul's autograph on it.

I was wearing a cap that had Angel karma infused into it! :o :o

Yesterday I made sure that cap was shoved way to the bottom of the pile, and you saw the results for yourself. So, while it's true I cost us Game 1, it's also true that I reversed the mojo by BURYING JOSH PAUL under a mountain of Sox cap energy! :gosox2:

way to go jag off...

im glad you realized the error in your ways, and by "burrying Josh Paul" you might have done more than you realized!

hats off to you!

I was flipping through them. I wore 5 different caps (hats have brims all the way around) during the 8th and 9th innings. Desperate to find the "right one". Surprisingly it was the 1919 road gray. I almost rejected that one. Imagine the horror, if I did.

i got my 2 year old white sox hat, and i ordered 2 new ones from ebay :o

I hope to someday live in a country where a slap at a Johnny(Cusack)-Come-Lately will not be extrapolated into a debate about buying a Sox hat.

I don't believe the condition of a hat is an accurate method of distinguishing a die-hard White Sox fan. However, it's certaintly a good indication

Two years ago, I purchased a vintage 1983 White Sox cap during the Cubs postseason run. Until last month, when I upgraded to another 1983 style, my hat had practically been through hell. It got to the point I couldn't wear it out in public anymore--literally. It had begun to develop an odd stench when I accidentally dropped beer on it.

Next time you see me, I'll be sporting a brand new sox cap. (Because I whipped my old one over the edge of the upper deck Tuesday night.)

i've got my good ole 1983 hat that is gross and nasty and i love it. i also have an authentic plain black but i dont really wear it... more a decoration thing. and i just got my new division series hat (FINALLY) and now i'm gonna sport it (i think - barring any meltdowns) for the rest of the playoffs.

i used to have a charlotte knights hat - it was freakin sweet... but it got pretty much destroyed... sigh...

Shall we discuss "the call" some more? It's a off day. I didn't see a mountain, I saw a thread. And as the reigning "Thread Starter of the Year" Soxtalk Award Winner, it is my sworn duty to start it. :D

I have 1 Sox hat (the 1926 crossed sox replica) and 2 jerseys (one signed Thomas that never gets worn) and that's all I have. Doesn't make me any more or less of a fan.
