Recent Influx of Celebrity Voice Overs

Featured Replies

In the past, celebrities seemed to have stayed away from domestic commercials, but the past 5 years has seen an influx of famous faces and voices on the small screen.

I like it. I just heard Gene Hackman for some electronics company. Some of these celebrities have good voices that you trust.

thoughts?

I only trust republicans

Gene Hackman does Lowes

Rob Morrow does alot of car voice-overs

Jeff Bridges does duracell batteries

John corbett does some new ones(cant remember what)

Alot of bands are selling the rights to their songs also for commercials

It drives me nuts trying to figure out who the voices belong too...

THREADJACK!!!

If Soxtalk posters were doing voiceovers, what company/product would they be endorsing??

Hi! I'm Nuke Cleveland for the NRA.

My buddy Steve sings the Jack Phelan Chevrolet commercials...

What does that get me? Nothing...

Rex, actually does commercial work. His disco inspired car commercial kills.

Hi, I'm The Critic of Soxtalk fame, here to talk about Hacker-Pschorr Weisse beer.

This beer has gotten me through those tough times in September, and was the ultimate celebration drink all throughout October. The little woman likes Hacker-Pschorr because it dulls my normally surly demeanor into something slightly resembling a human being. And my daughter likes the way Daddy belches after 5 or 6 of those lovely brown bottles of wheaty goodness.

Hacker-Pschorr - the drink for the whole family! Even if nobody else gets to f***ing TOUCH one bottle of it!!!!

Swanson's Turkey Pot Pies...

I've heard John Goodman's voice in a few commercials.

10 years ago, this used to only happen in Japan...U.S. stars were so worried that endorsing a product would screw up their career...that they'd be viewed as selling out, that they were unwilling to do those commercials.

Over the past decade, the money's just become too tempting I guess. As more people took it, the taboo fell away.

Drew Carey is their spokesman.

Same as SS, it drives me nuts when I think I recognize a voice, but can't put a name to it. Has the effect of distracting me from whatever product the person is pitching.

But the voice-over seems a lot less like they're whoring themselves as when they actually appear in the commercial.

Actually, I look at darn few commercials since I TIVO everything before watching. Something really has to grab me visually to make me back up and watch it.
