Wille Harris & Timo Perez=Gone

Again, Perez could be back on a minor league deal.  I am not in favor of it, I don't think it will happen, but it's possible.

We still have too many strong OF minor-leaguers for them to do that. He'd just be in the way with this organization, whereas he might have a shot at getting on with another club.

What do you think will happen with Borchard?

I don't want to speak for Jim, but again, after reading KW's quotes all offseason regarding Borchard, I don't think he'll be back.

Borchard, I think he will be traded before 4/1/06 for a bullpen arm or a prospect. Some lower level team will take a chance on him, I have always felt Pittsburgh will trade for him. Maybe Florida.

They should've kept Willie. He looked good after he came up.

BTW, I'd like to thank Willie Harris for the 8th inning in Game 4 of the WS. I'll always appreciate his career with the Sox for that sequence.

He had no place on the team in 2006. We have a guy who can back-up 2nd base. We also have some speed off the bench. What we need is another outfielder, hopefully a righty or switch hitter.

He's got no minor-league options left, let's see Borchard compete for a fourth outfielder's spot in spring training. I'm not even really speaking from a sentimental standpoint, but, rather from a baseball point of view. He's really the only in-house option for some pop off the bench. Looking on down the rosters, we don't really have any slugger with some power potential coming off the bench other than Borchard in-house.

If Kenny decides to sign DaVannon or the like, I'd have no problem with it. But, I think Borchard can play all three outfield positions--albeit, not great defensively--and has that LTP we've all been wanting to harness for all these years.

Bring him into camp, let him compete.

Two bench guys who can play second base -- Mackowiak and Ozuna.

Bring him to camp and make sure Jim Thome is his best buddy.(Borchard that is).

No joke.  I am glad to see these guys go just so I don't have to listen to the over the ledge crowd complain about them... unfortunately, they will just find someone else to b**** about, just call it faith.

you know that these guys are gonna give thome a nickname after he makes an eror in the field, most likely 'dont-hit-the-ball-thome'

Yes, Willie definitely wrote his own ticket out of town. I would have liked to see us hold on to him, from a baseball perspective, but if KW had problems with his attitude, well, See Ya! I think we all knew Timo was history. JoBo probably is gone too, but I like the idea of giving him a shot to make it as a bench player.

Personally I have no problem with Borchard coming into camp to compete but I do not think it will happen, here's why - KW's comments indicated he would not stand in Borchard's way. He said Borchard will only become the player he can be by having consistent major league at bats. Further, Williams stated the Sox can't offer that to him.

Williams loves this guy, and that's why he will give him the opportunity to realize his potential. That means it will be with some other team that can offer him the AB's.

As a last resort Borchard may be in camp but only if KW can't find a decent trade offer. I suspect this will be done after all this non-tender stuff shakes out, probably late January.

Plus, I suspect Ozzie wants more speed off the bench, nothing has been stated but he needs a guy who can play all 3 OF positions, can handle the bat, pinch run, and play decent defense.

bye willie and timo, thx timo for the 2 balls you hit me in batting practice.

BTW, does anyone know of a good place to check who was non-tendered for all teams? Will some site have a list up after today's deadline? Maybe MLB.com or Rotoworld? Just curious if anyone knows off-hand.

Rotoworld.com is probably the best site for the latest news. The deadline is 11:00 P.M. central time tonight.

Reported on ESPN Radio that Willie and Timo won't be tendered contracts by tonights deadline..... now, I'm not 100% sure what that means? Can anyone help clear this up a little? I know there was talk that Borchard would be given a chance to take the Timo roll from last year, does this help solidify this?

Also, I posted this in the A.J. contract thread, but just repeating here. A.J. was on ESPN 1000 locally and he said he thought that J.G. or Jose had to be traded and doesn't see the Sox coming north with 6 starters. Just interesting to hear a players point of view on the situation.

Sorry mods, didn't see the Willie and Timo = gone thread, please merge/remove if need be.

Willie will forever be in Sox lore for scoring the only run in Game 4 of the World Series. Funny, how he struggled the whole year to get a hit and when it mattered most, he came through. So long, Wille.

As for Timo, I hear the Cubs are looking for a right fielder?
