That's the part that really pisses me off, he treats the thing like Tiffany glass. The HD crapped out on this one.

I've have similar problems with the dell dj. They have sent me 2 replacements already.

i've gotten no qualms with mine...

I haven't bought an MP3 player yet...but I know quite a few people around Caltech who have had problems with theirs' as well. One of the reasons I haven't bought one is that it seems like the technology isn't quite up to par yet given how much they cost.

My iPod

I push big video files between three or four computers with it all day and iyt has completely replaced my pocket firewire drive as my transfer disk.

I had to go through the plug-in-and-press-the-buttons reset protocol once te first week I had it, and it has been working hassle-free for 2.5 years.

Of course if you are plugging the thing into cheap Wintel hardware and not the mac it naturally craves, I can understand why it might be comitting device suicide on you. :)

I know Apple settled a class action suit over the battery last year. Some of the batteries over a certain span were crappy and would wear out a lot quicker than they were suppose to. People got money for a new battery, but I think the opportunity to register for that is over.

me too. I absolutely love mine. I would suggest to anyone getting one to grab one of those protector cases, IMO they're a must.

Thus far mines been awesome. I've had it right around a year and I use it when I'm on campus, when I'm riding my snowboard and when I run. Its gotten banged up and thus far has kept on ticking.

i miss the time when i didn't have to take an album off to put an album on :SAD SO SAD

Apple refused to replace the batteries for less than like $200 bucks or something at first, then they got hit by a big old lawsuit and were forced to pay up.
