Rush returning to Kansas for Soph Year

Featured Replies

Until his name circulates in every 1st round discussion and he learns what kind of money he might be in for.

Good move by Rush. He could clearly use some more college seasoning. Kansas has a chance to be VERY good next year.

Rush forgot how to dribble in the last 10 games, i dont know what the hell happened. He is going to stay, i dont think the scouts were too impressed.

This sort of reminds me of Vince Young, who said constantly that he was going to be coming back to Texas for his senior year. When it was all over however, he ended up declaring for the draft. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, Rush isn't in to be a top 5 pick, so he won't have nearly as much pressure to enter the draft as Young had, but he should still have a fair amount.

Vince Young also did all he could in college football and won the National Championship. Rush obviously hasn't proved himself at the big stage of his sport by any means.

Rush has a ton of pressure on him from his mom and brother to stay in school. Jaron left too early and is now playing god knows where. Kareem stayed for a few and is doing well. His brother supports his mom, so he knows he can stay and learn to use his left hand and be a lotter next year. That is the gist of the media coverage in lawrence.

He could have won the Heisman ;)

He does travel alot..haha

Another thing you have to consider, for whatever reasons, is that Tyler Hansbrough is already 20 years old, and Rush is about 6 months older than Tyler. That, combined with Rush's two brothers relative failure at the next level have to be tempering some scouts/teams enthusiasm about both of them. I fully expect both of them to be back, they both have dominant teams coming back next year to try again.

Didn't rush do prep school, i think Tyler just failed out of school.

They will both be lottery picks next year.

Just for perspective, right now, ESPN's top 100 list of draft prospects has Rush at #33, and is projecting him to be a mid-late first round pick.

Tyler was held back in 1st grade, and Rush didn't attend prep school from what I remember. Had a normal high school career after transferring to Mt. Zion for his junior year.

Only reason he'd come back is he isn't a 1st round lock, regardless of what KU fans say. This decision is subject to change if his draft status improves.

Rush attended quite a few high schools, and there was some concern he wouldn't even graduate. There were a lot of rumors about him attending the IMG Academy, etc. One of the schools he went to early on in his high school career no longer exists.

for what its worth

The future is what Kansas has to look forward to now. Following the game, freshman guard Brandon Rush said he was going to return for his sophomore season. Self said he would not comment on that until he spoke with Rush about the situation.

“I was still undecided before the game, but after the game I am for sure coming back,” Rush said. “I figured it is best for the whole team to come back and be strong.”

Kansas, barring any transfers or players leaving for the NBA, will return all five starters and its top seven scorers.

And yet he's able to get into Kansas with little problem. What a shocker.

Oh stop with that. I know he was held back, because they could not find any records of the school that disappeared off the map.

Also I think the future of Slim Shady Darrel Arthur has to do with Rush. If rush leaves, Slim comes.

You could be better off with Slim. Rush is gone as soon as he's a 1st round lock (after next year the latest), whereas Arthur needs a bit of work so he will stay a few years.

I think DA wants to be a one and one also.

That's cute, but he's not half as good as Rush, who's borderline good enough to be a one and done. So that's not something KU should worry about with Arthur.

Another bit of news that THE Iowa State University could have gone without.

just wondering how do you know so much about this guy, do you live in Dallas??

I don't think KU getting Rush back has any affect on Iowa State, who is bad, lost their 2 best players, without a coach, and heading for probation/maybe worse.

/mean, sad, and true.

:(

No, but Arthur not being as good as Rush is pretty common sense to somebody who follows recruiting. Arthur is like Wright without 1/8th the passing game. He needs work, no matter how much he wants to be in the NBA.
