Premeditated fight by Barrett

Featured Replies

I just heard a clip on the Score where they interviewed Michael Barrett this morning before the game. He mentioned that the Cubs can either sit there and cry about how they're playing or they can go out and start a fight or something.

He was looking to get into some s*** before the game even started. We need to get a copy of the interview and send it to the Sox. They can send it to the comissioner or whoever decides the penalty and they can see that it was premeditated.

very interesting.

Yep I heard it live, I was going to post a thread but figured there already was one......

He definitely said it, so it could be said that this move was indeed premeditated.

I will never forget the interview that Barrett had with Comcast last season. He said that he didn’t want the Sox gaining more of a fan base and he didn’t like the fact that the Cubs could be referred to as Chicago’s second team.

Michael Barrett's crybaby ways go way back; nurtured by a great supporting staff of two of the biggest crybabies in 2004 - Alou and Steroid Sosa.

Barrett was cryin' and starting s*** with Roy Oswalt while Oswalt was busy owning the Cubs and helping them choke their way out of playoff contention...

That's not really what he said. He said they could cry about their lossing or start a fight with someone to get a fire going, but it would be better just to win games. There's no doubt that he has been hot headed lately but I found it to be more of a strange coincidence than anything premeditated.

funny you bring up steriods into the equation because Barrett might be suffering from riod rage. I now demand that he be tested due to this altercation.

Also I remember him on the Score in the offseason, crying like a little b**** of how jealous he was of the parade, saying that the Sox and fans "were walking on our streets" (Barrett using the word 'our', saying the Cubs own the streets/Chicago).

He clearly doesn't know how to control or handle jealousy

Who the f*** is Michael Barrett?

He needs to shut his mouth until his team wins something meaningful.

Right now they are heading towards last place and their entire team is a joke.

This joker deserves some sweet chin music from Jose today.

So you don't want Contreras pitching past 2 innings?

I don't actually want him to do it and get tossed, but yes Barrett deserves something.

If we get up in the game late by a comfortable lead, I would put in a scrub (Logan or Montero) and nail him.

Thornton would be the perfect guy. 97 mph

I don't want to see a Sox reliever get a fine or suspension for purposely throwing at someone. The pen is thin enough. Not that Barret doesn't deserve it but I can't see how it would help the Sox.

What does it matter if Boone Logan or Augustin Montero get suspended? They are useless as relievers, might as well use them for something.

One of them will be gone before today's game starts.

BTW - The Score may have Barrett on in a few minutes. They are trying to get him on.

And they both throw hard enough to cause damage. As much as I would like to see a little retaliation, I hope they take the high road and do nothing, unless of course Zambrano does something stupid today. Let the Cubs and their fans continue to be the longest running joke of professional sports.

Do you think Boone could hit the guy?

You're right Montero more than likely won't even be with the team today.

Boone can throw a ball at a bat with the best of them. Im sure he can throw a ball at a person. ;)

"Shame is that Freddy Garcia and Tadahito Iguchi will hardly be mentioned tomorrow," said Javier Vazquez. "Everything will be about the fight" ...

"You mean for the one inning I caught him," answered AJ to a question about how did Garcia look ...

It is my opinion that there is no reason to retaliate unless Zambrano throws a bit too far inside. The Sox have nothing to gain from any of this. They've already shown that they stand up for eachother, so I don't see the point in risking more players.

I think the best part about this whole thing is that while Barrett is suspended the cubs will have to use a player whose batting Rich Hill's number (.053) to make their already horribly pathetic offense even worse.

And the only guy that might have been hurt is a Cub. Does anyone know what Mabry's status is? I haven't heard anything yet.

The safest place to be when Boone Logan is pitching is right in the crosshairs.

:D

Barrett was cryin' and starting s*** with Roy Oswalt while Oswalt was busy owning the Cubs and helping them choke their way out of playoff contention...

This is incorrect. Oswalt drilled Barrett in Houston 1 batter after Ramirez hit a 475 foot homer off him to give the Cubs a late inning lead. The next pitch was 96 between Barrett's numbers. Oswalt started that garbage with Barrett, not the other way around.

That said, Barrett was out of line yesterday and will be reprimanded accordingly. I applaud Barrett for 1 reason: he at least cares. the rest of that sad array of north-side check collectors show absolutely no life whatsoever.

Barrett is an emotional, fiery guy and unfortuantely its misdirected more often than not. I'm sure it was a case of severe frustration boiling over. That doesn't make it right what he did, though. As a Cub fan I am pulling for the sweep today as maybe there will finally be some action taken this coming week.

Finally, you Sox fans have a great team to cheer for. Excellent and strong in all facets. The only way you guys don't EASILY win the WS again is if the plane crashes, or Buehrle, Contreras, Konerko miss a couple months each. That's not gonna happen, so I think you guys repeat. Good luck the rest of the way and when you come to Wrigley, I'm certain you guys will sweep there also.
