Garland has a no trade clause for this season. There's a reason why he included it in his new contract, he's not going anywhere this season.

I really do love me some Mike Gonzalez though, oh what I would give to see him in the Sox' pen this year. The guy is a lefty and just makes hitters look absolutely silly. We need to pry him away from the lowly Pirates before another contender does.

Sadly, his final year of arbitration will be in '09 so the Pirates probably will not deal him anytime soon.

so he can at least have a choice? To protect him from landing with a team like Tampa? Im sure he would like to be near his asian chick and family. It would definately pique his interest.

Because the angels produce relivers like the Broncos produce running backs. They will just re-load at that position. I'm sure they have a high opinion of garland after that complete game in the alcs.

point taken, they are usually up there with the elite pens. Those numbers are staggering.

Also staggering is that 6 out of those 8 ERA's are lower than Cliff Politte's.

Neither here nor there, but the big buzz this afternoon on ESPN Radio here was that Stoneman vetoed an off-season trade for Manny Ramirez that would have sent Scot Shields and Chone Figgins to Boston with two prospects.

No Stoneman made the right move there as far as I'm concerned.

 

Figgins and Shields for the money they make, are more valuable than Manny IMHO, even though he's putting up good numbers again for the Red Sox.

Why would anyone want to trade Garland? I thought we had Dr Don Cooper who makes any bad pitcher a cy young candidate. Apparently Coop hasn't noticed that Jon and Cliff suck this year so far. Once he notices I'm sure he'll get them turned around.

I suggested this trade in a game thread 2 weeks ago.

I have wanted Shields for years -- he's a freaking stud. But if we trade Garland, we will probably have to try to re-sign both Buehrle and Garcia after 2007.
