kempers, put down that bong you are smoking, will ya! I haven't even been involved in this entire thread. Someone cannot be retarted if they don't say anything! Furthermore, I don't see people really calling me out on this board, so there must not be much retartedness that resides here!

You aren't going to teach history or government are you? You appear to know very little about either. Also, are they teaching you in school to do research and to know how to make an argument for every side of an issue, even those you disagree with? By the way, in plain English, what does "no threat waiting for us to attack" mean?

Its a known fact that the largest amount of government spending goes to Senior Citizens in the forms of Medicare and Social Security. Currently it is about 33-40%.

Military spending of course will go up during this time of increased security, but it still won't come close medicare and social security or even social security alone.

And I see that you're reading right out of the Republican GOP Head Up the Ass Conservative Polices handbook as well.

Well I don't want to really get into a debate of Cerb's big speel, cause in fact as a Republican I do believe Reganomics doesn't work. It could of worked if spending wasn't so damn high, but when spending goes up and you decrease taxes your asking for something.

I also happen to think Bush and the republicans are idiots to grant a tax cut right now, and no the tax cut doesn't only help the top 1%, but if the make the most money and pay the most taxes they will end up benefitting the most because of how much they have going in.

The reason I'm against the tax cut is simple, we can't afford to cut taxes right now when government spending, on a possible war in Iraq as well as preventing this country, is going to go through the roof. All it will do is make the deficit huge, and thats not something we need to do right now, if we can prevent part of it by simply keeping tax levels where they are at.

I'm all for Tax Cuts, the timing just isn't right right now.

Oh ya, Red Necks and Blue Collar workers aren't the only ones who vote republican. You don't see me calling teachers stupid because they vote democrat.

Ok, Nuke, first of all, your point(s) or lack there of are moot because you type in caps. You could make yourself look like more of an idiot by using leet speak or something: OMFG f*** YOU LEAVE AMERICA!!!

This is why I would love to leave.

JUST A FEW QUESTIONS AND POINTS HERE.

1. INSTEAD OF WORRYING ABOUT WHAT THE RICHEST 1% HAVE HOW ABOUT TRYING TO IMPROVE YOUR OWN LOT IN LIFE?

2. DO YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE MILITARY? I REALLY THINK NOT BECAUSE IF YOU DID THEN YOU WOULD REALIZE THAT BOMBS, BULLETS, FUEL, FOOD, SALARIES FOR THE TROOPS ETC...ETC... COSTS A LOT OF MONEY. WHY SHOULD WE DENY THE PEOPLE (INCLUDING ME) THAT PROTECT OUR COUNTRY NOTHING LESS THAN THE BEST WEAPONS, SUPPLIES & QUALITY OF LIFE POSSIBLE.

3. MISSILE DEFENSE ISINT FULLY OPERATIONAL YET, BUT IT WILL BE SOON ENOUGH & IN THIS AGE OF NUCLEAR PROLIFERATION I'LL SLEEP A LOT BETTER WITH IT IN PLACE KNOWING THAT WE CAN DEFEAT A NUCLEAR TIPPED MISSILE FROM SOME ROUGE NATION AIMED AT.....OH...CHICAGO.

4. YOU WOULDNT LET MOST OF THE SOUTH VOTE?? SO LET ME GET THIS RIGHT, YOU WOULDN'T LET MILLIONS OF PEOPLE VOTE BECAUSE THEY DONT MEET YOUR STANDARDS OF EDUCATION? I GOT NEWS FOR YOU PAL, THEY DID THE SAME THING TO BLACK PEOPLE FOR A VERY LONG TIME. REMEMBER THAT? "POLL TAX", "LITERACY TEST". THOSE PHRASES RING A BELL? WOULD YOU CARE TO TRY THAT ON THE PEOPLE OF THE SOUTH BECAUSE THEY HAPPEN TO NOT SHARE YOUR POLITICAL VIEWS? I THINK IT IS YOU THAT NEEDS TO READ THE CONSTITUTION JACKASS!!!

1) My situation is fine. Maybe you should worry about the current President blowing money to all his rich friends, instead of to you. Moron.

2) Do we need 355 Billion Dollars so we can fight a war that Bush's Daddy never finished? Oh yeah, I forgot, there's Oil in Iraq. Whoops, that makes every point moot, we have to get the f***ing Oil!

3) What if Rogue nations fire multiple Nukes. Oh s***, we might get one of them, but the rest hit, whoops! Doesn't even work anyways, waste of 10 billion dollars. But hey, if you would want a 10 billion dollar paperweight to make you feel safe at night, go ahead. Would you like a nightlight too?

4) If you had any brain cells at all (see above, caps, etc) you'd notice that the majority of the South is underdeveloped. With this underdevelopment comes uneducation.

I don't know why I keep trying, I guess I can't help myself. You can be a Democrat or a liberal. I live in a city that is 5-1 Democrat but if I showed some of these arguments that are made here people would laugh, even the Democrats. First of all taxes. Jason sometimes when you cut taxes you get more money, not less. Just like sometimes when a merchant cuts prices they end up with more sales, not less. Federal taxes were cut in the 1920's,1960's (under a Democrat President) and in the 1980's under Reagan. In each case federal revenues boomed and so did the economy. The timing of Bush's tax cuts were bad in that 9-11 has put the economy in a kind of suspended animation. When the economy revs up again revenues will increase just like it did the other 3 times. Jason I think you also mentioned something about Keynesian economics earlier in this long discussion. John Maynard Keynes was the premier economist of the day in the 30's and 40's. He believed in government spending to prime a slumping economy. He was a favorite of DEMOCRATS in the US. His policies were not used by Reagan and are seen as ineffective and out of date by most of today's economic experts, whether they are Democrats or Republicans. Sideshow the figures I quoted are from the US OMB (Office of Management and Budget) not something I made up. You may not like the military and you may think that too much money is spent on the military. That is your right as an American citizen. How many countries do you think allow you to do that? The fact is on a percentage basis much less is spent on the military than was spent previously. Even if Bush gets all the money he wants Defense will go from about 15% of the total to about 17 or 18%, which is still low by historical standards. Cerb you were very critical toward the south. For many years, the south lagged behind the rest of the country in almost every way. There are still large parts of the south that remain "backward" if you use measurements like educational levels and income per household. However, much of the south has changed. If you go to metropolitan areas like Atlanta, Dallas, Charlotte and Nashville to name a few they are booming and prospering. Didn't they teach you about the "sun belt" in school? The country has moved to the southern and western states since the end of WWII. It is the northern arc from Maine to Minnesota that is in decline, although some states are doing better than others. I grew up in Chicago and still love the place, but the fact is it just isn't as big or as important as it was say in 1950 or 1960. New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin all lost seats in the House because their populations are not growing as fast as some other states. The States that gained seats in Congress include Georgia, Texas, and North Carolina states in the old Confederacy. The "South" is actually not so backward anymore. It is the North that is fading. Cerb, Sideshow and other young people here who tilt to the left I don't "know" any of you any more than you "know" me. I wish you nothing but the best life has to offer. I would never tell you to march down to your local Board of Elections and register and vote Republican. Politics like religion is very personal and everyone has to make up their own mind. You know what? You actually get to do that in this country! What I would suggest that you guys not only "question" authority but question yourselves also. You're getting a lot of bad, incomplete, and incorrect information. You are proving my point that today's schools are pathetic when it comes to educating the young. It takes more than shouting down the opposing side and calling them "assholes", "right wingers" or whatever. You may decide after really reading and studying to be just as left wing as you are now. But at least you will be informed. I know Democrats and left wingers that are brilliant and really hard to debate. I will quit for now. I'll probably just get called some names, my main aim is to get you guys to think, not just shoot from the hip with a lot of anger and not much else. Good luck, if you were standing in front of me I'd offer a handshake.

Great Post SI, and I do know about how if you lower taxes you can still increase the amount in. It was one of the key things Regan said for Reganomics and it was one of the things that did come true.

The key is that happened because the economy ended up going up, but right now I honestly don't think the economy will be on its way up for another year or two minimum.

I always figured it would go down, mainly because the Stock Market was so inflated and stocks like Amazon were trading for large amounts of money despite the fact that the companies didn't even make any money. All it did was lose money.

Si, like you, I know I can't tell people how to vote and it all has to do with how you see things. Typically that happens just by how you experience life and the type of life you live and who you are around.

Me, I am a registered republican who typically stays within his party, but is willing to admit at times when I feel that the republicans are doing things wrong. Of course I get disgusted and sickened at the things many of the democrats that are in office pull. It absolutely horrifies me with the chinanigins they pull, like they did in New Jersey and I don't understand how they get away with it.

Still thats my opinion and I think we all are entitled to our opinions on this board and in life, its why America is so great.

Well, that kind of makes it very scary. Having that is one of the great liabilities of the nation. We leave ourselves open to asshats like the American Knights of the KKK (Who believe in Jesus, but yet hate ALL Jews...irony factor = 100%)

and Tipper Gore, Pat Robertson and the PMRC and the Religious Right Christian supremacists.

It is a government of the people, by the people and for the people.

It is far better to stay here and work towards beneficial social changes that will benefit all (yes, there will be the small faction of pathological asshats that will be serial killers and the such)

But I believe that we have become a self centered society all focused on improving our own self interests. Abraham Lincoln said it best "A house divided cannot stand". If we people actually got together and saw through the bulls*** of the PMRC, the KKK, the Neo-Nazis movement, the extreme right wing religious fundamentalism of Pat Robertson et. al. of the Christian tele-evangelists, corporate corruption, etc. we could actually see that we are all brothers and sisters in one race...human.

If we could all stop with our growing ethnocentrism and stop being so goddamn focused on "ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME", get together and say to our government "Hey f***tards, we put you in the goddamn office, you best f***ing listen to us."

It's sad enough over half our population doesn't vote....democracy is not a spectator sport. It's an active event. As long as our politicans are beholden to big business, the wants of the people will be second rate. And they can get away with it because less and less amounts of people are coming to the polls. It's turning from a democracy to an oligarchy.

It's time for Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, Greens, Socialists, Communists, etc. to get together and say "Enough of the f***ing bulls***. We want our politicans to listen to us...the people who put them in the goddamn offices." The sheer inaccessability we have to our elected officials is staggering...but the huge corporate donors to their campaigns always get time to talk with our politicians.

Isn't it time we all stepped up, regardless of party, and called some motherf***ing shenanigans on this?

Its scary, but in a sense its great. I mean only in this country can people step up and say hey, I don't like the way this is, or hey he's a lousy president. Most other places you'll get murdered or called for treason if you pulled something like that.

I know one thing, ya, their may be things that need to be improved and I think that Democrats and Republicans both feel that way, they simply differ on how they should be done.

Both want to make this country better and thats whats key.

As far as voting, I say f the communist and socialist cause I could care less about their vote. The independents and everyone else, they can come out and vote, but I don't need a crappy system like communism or socialism here.

You grope and grope about the Constitution, but did you forget to read where it said Freedome of Speech? A counrty that does not allow one's citizens to publically criticze it is not a free state at all. Seems like facism to me, but we can't have that, you'd probably combust. But, I'm apart of the vocal minority, so I'm used to it.

Also, if I do leave America, why would I want it to effect anyone else. I would do it for MY personal being not yours, would I? I have never had a holier than thou attitude, and I wonder where you get an asinine belief like that. I'm not the one rambling on calling other people "f***ers", now am I?

I loved Chicago, I think its the greatest place on Earth... but that didn't stop me from leaving when I got the chance.

Yeah, Chicago is awesome, but there's a big world out there that I want to see... I plan on returning to the Windy City... eventually, but sometimes absence makes the heart grow fonder.

cubkilla...he didnt say he wanted to leave..he said he would "love" to leave..

direct quote "This is why I would love to leave."

my question to cerbaho...when you make a comment like that what kind of a response to you expect???....if you really feel that way why dont you???...it sounds like you want to but maybe cant afford to move abroad...put a plan together to do it....and im not saying this to be a smart ass...ive lived in other countries and while i feel the good ole US of A the by far the best place to live but there are other countries i could live happily in...i almost took a civilian job in germany after i got out of the army..and i met american civilians while stationed there that are spending the rest of their lives there and are very happy...

if your looking for a place where governemnt has more control over the "safety" of your life (gun control , socialized medicine ect) while still giving your basic freedoms you can find that in quite a few countries (from your posts im guessing thats kind of what you are looking for)...perhaps sweden???..thats the country most socialists use an example when they talk about america changing...

you seem very adament in your views and i dont see america ever going as far to the left as you would want it to...even you have to admit that...if anything it will go more conservative over the next 20-30 years...as strong as your views are you will probably only get more frustrated as the years go on..

Do you have a mental defect or something? Where does this come from? Do you think every single thread has to do with you? Do you think people care?
