June 20, 200619 yr Sorry if I'm going too far here, but I think a separate thread for this game needs to be made. It's a Game 7, so I'd hope that a lot more people would be watching. I'm a little dissappointed with the girl who sang the anthems -- she was off key. That's only a minor quibble though. The puck has dropped, we are underway.
June 20, 200619 yr I cannot believe that the Caneshockey.com forums are down. That is total BS. I wanted to be in the game thread with the other fans that are not in Carolina for support. Holly has never thrilled me either, but I guess she is a student at NC State or something like that.
June 20, 200619 yr The Canes just got royally hosed. I hope they do something with the remaining 1:55 of the power play.
June 20, 200619 yr The announcers just showed it, the puck DID go over the line. Dammit, it should be 2-0 Canes right now. I'd be breathing much easier if it was. Back to nail biting and stomach churning. ETA: Now that it is 2-0, it should be 3-0. I should leave the bedroom more often. Within 30 seconds of walking out of the room, the Canes score. Brain has evicted me until the end of the game. Edited June 20, 200619 yr by Queen Prawn
June 20, 200619 yr Edmonton cuts the lead in half. I've never been a big hockey fan but I've really enjoyed watching these last two games.
June 20, 200619 yr QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 20, 2006 -> 02:18 AM) Edmonton cuts the lead in half. I've never been a big hockey fan but I've really enjoyed watching these last two games. This has been really good hockey. The finals have been very well played. There's NOTHING like a game 7 in any sport, but especially hockey, as the pace is frantic the entire 60 minutes.
June 20, 200619 yr NHL doesn't help their cause by signing a deal with such an obscure channel that nobody can find.
June 20, 200619 yr Well I'm pulling for Carolina because Edmonton has won several Stanley Cups. When Edmonton scored to make it 2-1 it reminded me I have seen 2-0 leads in Game 7 Stanley Cup finals on home ice evaporate. 35 years ago in fact. I was at Game 7 of the Blackhawks vs. Montreal at the Stadium in 1971 and watched a 2-0 lead turn into a 3-2 loss. Not sure if I have ever gotten over that.

That's one that leaves a bitter taste in one's mouth for sure.
June 20, 200619 yr QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 19, 2006 -> 09:56 PM) Congratulations, QP. ^^^ Definitely some people having awesome sports years here. I'm looking at you palehose. Edited June 20, 200619 yr by Rowand44
June 20, 200619 yr Queenie! I told you. Congrats! I bet you're screaming your fool head off at your house. First, the Sox, now, the Canes.
June 20, 200619 yr Brian and I were both going nuts!!!! We have our Canes flag flying on the front porch, the Whaler flag in the computer room window, Brain wore his hat and jersey to work and I took mine out to wear to work and then to the Sox game tomorrow night. I wish I could have seen the Cole skate the cup around, but NBC cut out and I do not know if any other channel was showing it (espn certainly wasn't). The freaking Canes forum is STILL down - ARGH!!! I want to see if I could get someone there to send me a copy of the post game festivities (of course sending them whatever it would cost). Oh yeah, Brian thought Brindy should have gotten the Conn, but I think Ward was a great choice as well.
June 20, 200619 yr lol Rowand, it's been a hell of a year. My sister and her family live in Raleigh-Durham and have been to some games, so I have been rooting for the Hurricanes as well. Great win for the team and the community. It's funny having Roy Williams on the big screen at the RBC wishing the team well, when the game is based in NC State territory.
June 20, 200619 yr That was a great game, and an awesome job by the fans there. They were into EVERYTHING. Also I thought it was cool that the whole stadium sang with the national anthem instead of just listening.
June 20, 200619 yr The guy yelling "f*** YEA!!!" in celebration on national tv was hysterical. Congats QP
June 20, 200619 yr QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 20, 2006 -> 08:45 AM) The guy yelling "f*** YEA!!!" in celebration on national tv was hysterical. Congats QP i caught that, too. they cut that guy's sound off pretty quickly...
June 20, 200619 yr QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Jun 20, 2006 -> 09:27 AM) That was Ray Whitney - I almost fell off the couch laughing at that. I don't know if you knew this, but Pepe the King Prawn was on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson last night. I didn't watch because that show sucks, but I saw the info about 20 minutes before it started. Sorry I didn't let you know earlier
June 20, 200619 yr QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Jun 20, 2006 -> 11:53 AM) Dammit! Pepe is supposed to notify me of such things!!! You can blame it on me. Pepe's innocent in this case. I saw the info right before I went to sleep, and I thought I'd come back on here to let you know, but I was too tired and lazy. Sorry.
June 22, 200619 yr http://www.theonion.com/content/node/49761 The onion did a great job on this. GO CANES!!!
